According to some of the details emerging they made the sacrificial decision not to open fire when their presence was detected in order to not endanger the hostages.

The work is never over, with the lack of OIF/OEF news on the TV and internet these days you almost forget how rough a place the world actually is. Good on them for the successful release of the captives. Awesome work!

RIP!

Two French idiots take a trip to a West African Red Zone to have a “good experience” while completely disregarding their country’s warnings, which are clearly displayed on the internet. Then in trying to save them from their own stupidity, France deploys elements of its Marine Commandos who were required to operate under totally absurd as well as politically correct Rules of Engagement resulting in two highly trained and dedicated Operators killed. The two idiots were welcomed back like celebrities and will be with friends and family tipping back glasses of excellent French wine while two other families are crying and preparing to bury their dead heroes. Quite frankly, it turns my stomach.Rest In Peace Brothers

Agreed. They should be held accountable in some fashion. But, on the other hand, who among us would refuse to have been on that operation because they brought it on themselves?
