Pres. Trump's real 2020 threat......

Who is President Trump's real threat in his re-election in 2020?

As I alluded to in another thread over a week ago, the South Bend, Indiana Mayor - Pete Buttigieg.

He just announced officially his candidacy. He is surging in the polls. IMO he is the Democrats dream candidate. Bernie, Biden and the others will be fading away and you are going to see full support of Mayor Pete.

He has the leftist ideals. He is young. He is articulate. He is Gay. He is a veteran who served in Afghanistan.

If you object to him you will be labeled a homophobe.

Many on the left are extolling his military service over Trump's lack of service. (Funny how they ignored Bill Clinton, Obamas, Bernies, etc lack of service). (And from what I gather even though the left is exploiting his "war hero" status, he spent 7 months riding a desk doing research of financial records of targets. Not that I decry anyone who has ridden a desk, as I did at times also, and I do applaud him for his service, as I do all. But just cause you are a Veteran does not mean you get a blind pass. Not all are Heros. Men on this board like Gavin, they are the genuine war heros. )

The right is in a predicament also, as since many overlooked Trump's pass sexual indiscretions/comment/divorces they will be called either hypocrites, or will be silent on the issue, if they call out Pete's homosexual behavior.

Perfect Democrat strategy.

Being that the left MSM, and Hollywood, social media is saturated with Gays at the very top levels, you are goung to see the gay network go into full swing promoting this guy - and financial fundraising/contributions.

Democrats have a habit of wanting the "first". First Black man, first woman, first gay, etc.

I will come out and flat say it, besides his liberal/leftist ideals, I do not want a man who is having sex with another man in the White House! Call me a bigot, a homophobe, I don't care. It is lacking in character, immoral, not a good example for our nation and of course the youth.

As for Pete's past accomplishments, you know the saying "You can build a hundred bridges........".

Mayor Pete is a real threat.

Remember the last election, even with Hillarys baggage, was actually pretty close. She won the popular vote and if had taken just 2 other states would have won the Electoral college vote. Remember Barrack HUSSEIN Obama was a no name also and won. And who would have thought 4 years ago Trump could have been elected?

HighDragLowSpeed 16 April 2019 08:02

It's still really early and most of the other Dems have been around the block a time or two. Those candidates shut down Beto pretty quickly. I'd expect they see this guy as much of a threat to their own candidacy as the threat that he would be to Trump. If there were only 2-3 candidates, I'd agree with you.

That said, lots of dirt still to come to light and intra-party food fights to be survived..

So all that stuff gets him separated from the pack, but what has he done for the City he is running? Like Cory Booker who almost bankrupted the City he ran. Barrack Obama while winning two terms took a turn not his own in the democratic circles. Biden is not out and Bernie is leading the poles. If trump can keep his fag jokes to a minimum during the debates, I say he still wins.

TennesseeDave 16 April 2019 08:31

I noticed when you brought him up in the other thread and have been paying attention to his rise in popularity. He's very young, so if not this election cycle definitely in the future.

I can't see the Democrats going with two old white guys. Pete is gaining more and more popularity. Many are touting Mayor Petes success in South Bend. Though if you look carefully it was complete gentrification. I am calling it, I pray I am wrong - but I think you are going to see Pete as our next President.

MBTex 16 April 2019 08:39

Has South Bend improved that much. It was not that nice last time I was there a few years ago. Only nice area was around Notre Dame.

Yes, there have been noticeable improvements. We have a family farm right outside the city. Now, how much is exaggerated is a question, but the economic viability and how the city looks is an improvement. Still much crime - but sadly that seems to be in most Indiana cities these days due to meth/opioids. Of course much of the cities improvement does seem to focus on the gentrification of the city catering to the college/hipster crowd. But seeing the responses on social media here locally, the lobs are coming out in full swinging mode supporting this guy, and many blue collar union types also. NPR, MSM, and even Fox is giving this guy much air time, positive feedback and it is growing. I see the trend.

My niece's (17 years old) HS School in a very well to do neighborhood in northern Virginia, all the teachers and students a buzz and excited this week and non stop taking about Mayor Pete. My niece takes a lot of flack for being the one Trump Supporter. Ironically, the only other student in her home room class that supports Trump and has not jumped on the Mayor Pete bandwagon and sided with my niece was a Hijab wearing Muslim girl. Now, remember all her classmates, they will be voting in 2020.

Fu King Lawyer 16 April 2019 08:54

I suspect whatever the modern version of Fusion GPS/Mrs Clinton has been busy. There are press reports that the good Mayor may have some issues with some voters - I hope so as this will be enjoyable to watch.

His Police are alleged to be recorded making bigoted remarks and Pete is recorded as saying "All lives matter". Oh, the horror!:biggrin::rolleyes:

I will guess that many in America do not want a fag in office. Not many want to hear the words "The President and First Man will be accompanied by the Ambassador of..."

What does being a fag bring to the table for the leadership of America? Absolutely nothing. I think Kim Jung Rocket and Vladimir would see it as weakness that the "Leader of The Free World" takes it in the ass. Jus' sayin'

As far as the other contenders go;
  • Beto (Robert Francis) is a fucking whack job, and the rest of the Dems know it.
  • Bernie is 77 yo, and talks like he has marbles in his mouth. After it was shown that he averages to pay only 26% of his income in taxes, the rest of the socialists will abandon him.
  • Spartacus seems to double, and often triple, down on everything...then he back tracks, and quadruples down on his gaffs/errors.
  • The blonde chick from AZ contradicts herself too much.
  • Faux-cahontas is too whiny and comes across like Stuart's mother from Madd TV. She bobbles her head when she speaks like she has Parkinson's. People with Parkinson's should be offended that she is medically appropriating their disease.

The real problem with all of the candidates mentioned above, is that they have no real solutions. Handing shit out for free is not a solution. It is a problem.
They only thing the candidates have is TDS, as do their constituents.

Both him and Andrew Yang.

Himself and the MSM.

"The silent majority is an unspecified large group of people in a country or group who do not express their "opinions" publicly."

Dark Helmet 16 April 2019 09:43

He also speaks several languages. He sent condolences to the French yesterday for the fire in their native tongue fluently.

Speaking a foreign language or two makes him seem like a natural diplomat to the uninformed....

Steve83 16 April 2019 09:48

So far, Buttigieg might be the least bad options the Dems have. The fact that he smokes pole doesn't faze most people anymore. I really don't care that much myself.

He's a Neo-Liberal. Policy wise: not great. But not the end of the world.

If he does get the nomination, which I'm skeptical he will, I see 2 things happening:

1. He wins. Far left Dems scream and moan at him after every "failed promise" as he doesn't go far left as he'll have to promised them he would.

2. He loses: Far left Dems say they should of gone with someone far more progressive during the nomination.

19MIKE 16 April 2019 10:03

I'll say it.....Hillary! from the grave. (That's if she beats the collusion/indictments/etc. rap)

She'll be the only one left standing. We still have half a nation emotionally damaged from the last election and determined to make it right this time around.

I personally don't think the Dems have a shot. Biden's got baggage, Bernie is too unstable and angry. Kamala, Sparticus and the rest are window dressing. Anybody hear from 'Beto' lately?? 'Mayor Pete' (they can't bring themselves to pronounce his last name, he should change it to 'Pete Smith') is next in line....he does 'speak well' though which seems to be the major requirement libs have.

It's gonna be fun to watch

Is he left handed?;)

Ole crusty bastard 16 April 2019 10:11

I watched Bernie's town hall for about 5 minutes. The more exposure he gets, the less support he will receive, IMO. The man really grates on the nerves.

Keganswar 16 April 2019 10:22

I think its to early to tell. The Dems are just starting to eat themselves and we have years to go still. The knives will come out. Buttplug if he starts to get more momentum will just make himself the next target for the Dem machine. The Sanders camp has been blamed for all the negative Biden news. Bernie is not playing around this time. I personally can't stand that hypocritical socialist scum. But he is 100 percent in it to win it.

Only for the handy-Js.

Strictly from my personal POV...

This is SOCNET, not Stormfront. Use of derogatory words such as "Fag" and "pole-smoking" don't dignify your viewpoint. If you have nothing other than that causing you to oppose the latest unmemorable candidate to join the race, you have a pretty superficial grasp of politics.
