Would be cool to see it running again in some fashion for someone. Lot of good memories of that boat.

Interesting boat. What's it draft?

Eighteen foot beam, 16Kw generator.
Might make a good shallow water trawler,
with reworking.

3-4 feet on step. Probably a bad idea to operate too long in less than 8 because the jets suck shit up.
18 ft beam is a bad compromise in terms of ride in heavy seas. It had to fit in an airplane at one time.

I had the opportunity/pleasure of running around NY Harbor with SB20 aboard a MKV during Fleet Week years ago. What a blast.

Do you remember what year?

Blackjack78 27 April 2019 17:42

Hmm myb 2005-2006 all the years are commingled at this time in my life :). The NYPD Navy Association would to host the sailors/marines at Chelsea Brewery. The MkV was tied up at the dock and we kind of commandeered it lol I can't recall the Chiefs name . The Team guy in charge was a Brooklyn dude I want to say last name Quinn IIRC.

After my time. I was there for Fleet Week 2002. That was a unique time. A sad walk around Ground Zero and all.

Did you know a guy named Harold Fennell? He was a reserve boat guy who went active after he retired from NYPD.

We used you guys Harbor unit as OPFOR a couple of times. I had me a nice NYPD Harbor unit t shirt for a while.

I was around since the first Fleet Week. We always enjoyed having the fleet in. No, I don't know him. A former co-worker was a Vietnam era Boat Guy and I knew a rookie but I'll be damned if I can remember his name that said he was a boat guy in Mississippi I think it was.

Harbor Unit is a good detail. They have good hours but since 9/11 they have some fixed posts if you will. They just tie up and observe bridges and such.

What's the max speed on one of those things? I know nothing of military boats. It looks fast sitting still.

50+ knots on a good day.

Specboatteam 29 April 2019 10:21

I see they had one of the Halters for sale too.

chokeu2 1 May 2019 15:00

Knowing that boat ownership is a money pit by default, would this one be silly to own from a recreational stand point? That bid price, ain't bad as far as bad ass boats go.

Do they have one of these on display at the museum yet?

squall32 21 April 2020 19:22

Not at 200 gallons of DFM an hour!!

CPTAUSRET 21 April 2020 20:13

1700 lbs per hour, that's a lot of diesel.

nofear 22 April 2020 00:12

I need a waterfront property so I can take my kids to school in that every day!
