The Oldest Tab Here?
I was just wondering...the Ranger class photo thread RFI got me to the thinking.
Who has the oldest tab on the site? The Offical Ft Benning Ranger School Tab w/orders. LRRP's who served in Ranger Companies who may have had schooling OCONUS stand and be recognized. Im an 80's guy, so not even close. Who has the class photo with Robert Rogers? |

Right here brother, I'm in the prone on security errrrrr, sleeping. Blacked out my face because we were chasing Injun's and didn't want them to "Dox" me. Kidding aside, I was 33 y/o when I graduated, maybe not the oldest class but maybe one of the oldest here to graduate.

Not even close to the oldest, but Class 7-78. 41 years ago.

I'm with Top...old scroll 80's, then transition to new scroll and the Regiment. Best years of my life, period. Greatest men I've ever met and the proudest accomplishment of my life...I had the honor of walking in their shadow.

To my knowledge, SGM Marvis Moore was the oldest to graduate at 51 years old. Pretty sure that was in 1991. He recycled every phase. Spent like 9 months bouncing back and forth between the Gulag where I worked at the time and in the class. Hard man. His son popped up on here several years ago when a search turned up one of my posts about his Dad. |
Old tab, class 7-68. No scroll

19 years old.....Class 2-88. (Started with class 1-88, but got recycled in Mountains).
Back when still had a Desert phase. ; ) I remember we had an older ‘Nam Vet in his mid 40s in my class. |
4-80 not the oldest, possibly the coldest.

It was a friggin MIRACLE that nobody died that night  I was 4-80 until that patrol in the mountains, then started over again from day 1 with 9-80. TFG, I didn't know you were one of Matoon's Goons. Did you know John Schuko? We went through BCT, AIT, BAT, and RIP together. |

High winds, landscape like on the moon. The week is still a blur. But still froze my ass off in mountains. Never been so cold. And the rock climbing scared the hell out of me. So did it twice. Good times. Florida sucked more than Desert though. But I got my patrol go on the first day (airborne insertion/raid), so just humped the 60 the rest of the time and just tried not to fall asleep, break contact, or mess up and knew had my tab. Only time in life I have had a well defined 6 pack. ;) I was one bad ass Admin Clerk back then. |
I punched out of the mountains just as the desert phase was going away. A lot of our military a/c at the time were being lost to real world missions. Bosnia. The chartered a/c ran the budget up, so it was the most likely phase to kill off. And ironically, like LP said...the same type terrain we would be fighting wars in for the last 19 years.
