Medal of Honor recipient Col. Leo K. Thorsness
Colonel Thorsness passed away yesterday. His Wiki page has quite a bit of info on the mission where he earned the MoH, the mission he was shot down on and his time as a POW.
Rest in Peace, Colonel. https://www.stripes.com/news/veterans/medal-of-honor-recipient-leo-k-thorsness-dies-at-age-85-1.466595#.WQpLhca1vIU |
I never got to see him in person, but I have watched several documentaries that he took part in. He came across as a very humble Warrior in every one of them.
Rest In Peace, Colonel...you earned it! |
RIP Colonel.

A class act and a great American. Certainly one of my role models. RIP Sir.

RIP Sir. You won't be forgotten!

Rest Peacefully, Sir. You were an inspiration to us all.

He had to be a hell of a pilot in order to outduel a Mig-17 with a F-105. Huge difference in manueverability. RIP Colonel.

R.I.P. sir.
A Fighter Pilot back when they were allowed to be aggressive. Blue skies and tailwinds. |
Rest in Peace.

RIP, Sir.

Met him on a flight from TX back to AL in 2013. Sat next to him on the flight. I noticed a very small MOH insignia on his carry on. Asked him about it. Led to an awesome conversation. Bought a copy of his book from him and he autographed it for me. A real gentleman and humble beyond all belief.
RIP Col. |
RIP, Sir.

Lest we forget.......

Rest in Peace Sir.
