Major Tom Greer AKA "Dalton Fury", RIP

1 Attachment(s)
Major Tom Greer has passed away at age 52 from pancreatic cancer. Most of you are probably familiar with his book "Kill Bin Laden" that he wrote under the pen name Dalton Fury. Tom was the Ground Force Commander for 1st SFOD-D at Tora Bora. Tom was personally known to many of us on this board. When I met Tom he was still an Enlisted E-6 at 4th RTB, back in 1989. Good man, great American, loved his Ranger Regiment, and he was an absolute Warrior.

RIP Tom. You will be sorely missed, but never forgotten.

Tom was a Cpl in Charlie and I was a PFC in Bravo when we first met--he was always solid, and offered a kind word of encouragement to me--each and every time. RIP Tom...until the next time.

that was fast. family posted on Facebook that he was diagnosed late and inoperable less than a week ago, but was reading messages.

a few months ago the same thing happened to one of my guys, and died at 35.

Blue Skies, sir. you were good to read, and worth listening to.

Never had the privilege of meeting him in person, but when I emailed him last year to ask if he'd autograph a book for one of our charity auctions he did so. In fact he sent FOUR - three to auction off and one personalized to me for doing it! From those I know that knew him in several aspects of his life, that was just the kind of guy he was. RIP, Tom.

Pancreatic cancer is fucking scary...so many otherwise healthy guys in their 50's seem to get into a fight with it. Fuck cancer.

RIP warrior. Thank you for your service.

RIP Sir.

Hopeless Civilian 21 October 2016 11:21

RIP Sir, and condolences to his friends and family.

I enjoyed his book very much. He seemed to downplay his involvement, while heaping high praise on his senior NCO's.
