New MI Battalion

Interesting. The changing landscape of modern warfare.

Sounds like a good concept.

Earlier this month, the 75th Ranger Regiment permanently activated its newest battalion.

The Ranger Military Intelligence Battalion (RHIB) is now one of the five battalions of the 75th Ranger Regiment, the other being three infantry battalions (1/75, 2/75, 3/75) and a Special Troops Battalion.

According to the 75th Ranger Regiment, the RHIBís mission is to recruit, train, develop, and employ Rangers who specialize in cyber, electronic warfare, and full-spectrum intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) operations. In addition, the Battalion sports a remotely piloted aircraft (PRA) capability.

Crazy how much they have changed. Good for them.

Task & Purpose had a piece a few years back. Really cool expansion for evolving cyber threats.

Quote:

The new battalion’s cyber electromagnetic activities company, or CEMA, will help to address emerging threats.

“The CEMA Company constitutes the 75th Ranger Regiment's solution to more effectively integrate Electronic Warfare and Cyber in support of the Regimental Commander's combat objectives,” Evans explained.

The company provides “critical requirements to better enable the 75th Ranger Regiment's ability to meet the challenges of America's evolving adversaries, particularly Violent Extremist Organizations,” he added.

My first instructors on the application of EW to DA/HR mission sets were both Rangers who could shoot as well as they could sling cyber implants onto enemy networks. Looked up to those guys a lot and held them as examples of the type of dude I wanted to be.

Wow. Itís getting to where Regiment may be the wrong word. Todayís capabilities are making them less dependent on outside resources.

Lord...I thought I was God on earth patrolling the swamps sporting a set of PVS-5's (with weak batteries). God Bless'm...

If anybody happens to know anyone there- I'd like to speak with them about cyber and intel technologies.
