OTOA

Is anyone going to Ohio Tactical Officers Association conference this year? Excellent training opportunity, the cost is $300, but you will get your money out of it. Awesome debriefings from the professionals that were there; Pulse Night Club, Dallas Officer murders (I then got to drink a few beers with the gentlemen that came up with the robot/explosive idea), Hannah Anderson rescue and many more.

Many of the classes taken singularly cost more than the $300-week long conference. Sign up quickly if you are, 1200 of 1500 already signed up. If your department doesn't pay for it, pony-up the cash your self. When you're getting your ass kicked at 3 AM you can blame the PD all you want, but it's you getting your ass kicked.

Stay safe!

I will be teaching there again this year, 5th year in a row. OTOA is the premier all around LE Training Conference in the country...hands down.

One of the gun ranges they use during this conference is the ECCL (http://eriecountycl.org/).

I am on the board of trustees there.

Looks like I'll get a chance to meet you guys. PM me some real names so I know who/what to look for and I will reciprocate.

Great ranges, I was teaching on them last year. I will shoot you a PM

Yes, this! I often tell people that I have spent thousands of hours and tens of thousands of dollars on my own training. Why? Cops are cheap, departments are cheaper. At the end of the day you have 1*.

I will be attending this year, finally. Look forward to meeting some of you. Dark Helmet I will be at your range on one of the days for a class.

When you mentioned SEAL1 here, I thought you were referring to a username. I'm an idiot.

Also, I wanted to throw out a reminder I got about the LWRC rifle being offered. I cheap out every year and don't buy it, I'll probably regret it one of these days. If you need the filer emailed to you just send me your email and I'll forward it to you.

At the red dot for pistol class I took there was an Officer participating who was paralyzed during an OIS. During the moving and shooting portion, one of the guys pushed him so he could complete the drill. Awesome stuff to see.

I forgot to mention, I got to meet and interact with Tu Lam, owner of Ronin Tactics. All I know of him is what's on his company's website, a good friend's experience with him and the brief conversation I had with him at OTOA. Humble doesn't really seem to be enough of a word. We shook hands 5 different times and he bowed every time. A really interesting guy, glad I got to speak to him.

Oh, and his battle-belt seems well thought out. Just haven't jumped on the battle-belt gear idea just yet.
