Staff Sgt. Rudolph Davila
When his rifle company was ambushed on May 28, 1944, in Anzio, Italy, Staff Sergeant Rudolph Davila charged ahead, taking out two snipers and disabling two machine-gun emplacements. On June 21, 2000, after U.S. Senator Daniel Akaka took up the cause of minority soldiers whose heroism might have been overlooked, Davila was awarded the Medal of Honor.
