Sorry about Sparks. I've been a dog owner and Lab owner all my life. It sucks to loose one, but owning good dogs is one of the greatest/simplest pleasures in life.

People that have no clue about disaster recovery. Think like magic roads will be cleared and just drop supplies anywhere.

Having done my share of DR missions things never go smoothly.

My wife's internal thermostat.

It was 68 yesterday, a little cooler in the morning. That's the temp she wanted inside the house with the ac on just a few weeks ago.

Now she wants the heat on.

God damn I can't think about losing another one. That's why I'm so reluctant at getting a new dog. I don't know if I could live with another friend gone. Or maybe I should accept it and have fun with my 4-legged pal while I and he(she?) still can. It's not that I will live forever anyway.
Look at it as a chance to make a new friend. Rescue your next dog from a pound, it may help ease the past and future pain.

Agree. Had purebreds growing up. My first two dogs I got as an adult are pound puppies. I will be massively bummed when they pass but will eventually do it again and will head to the shelter to rescue more. My cats and dogs know they got off of death row and appreciate the gift of a second chance. There's a great series of pics of dogs smiling while heading home from the shelter with their new owners... they know. Shelters also need foster families for overflow. Great way to be a temporary dog parent but beware because you could become a foster failure meaning you've decided to adopt your temporary ward, which is how we ended up with our second dog.

Rest In Peace Sparks and Semper Fi

Haven't watched it much over the past decade like I used to but I truly hate the NFL... "You're dead to me Fredo." To the players and owners... you've fucked up a good thing... way to go. Not even going to watch the Super Bowl now.

Thanks

It really sucks that most of animal best friends move on before we do.

My current dog (Cash) has cost me a shitload of it (knee surgery, tick fever, etc etc) but I wouldn't hesitate paying for it all over again if I needed to.

I u derstand the feeling. I've spent a good chunk of change on my two pups and 2 kitties.

But I wouldn't trade them for the money or anything else.

We just paid out 4500.00 bucks for the TPLO knee joint surgery on our German Shepard. Fortunate to be able to afford it but really that didn’t matter. We would’ve paid 10x that. We love that dog. Our Bullmastiff and him are best buddies.

I don't know how many dogs I've had in my lifetime but have always had one. We are dog lovers and the loss of man's best friend is always hard. But, for whatever reason we continue through the pain and always get another. I've had purebreds and dogs of all shapes & sizes.

I'm convinced the "mixed breed mutts" are the best.

Great idea TFG.

Thank you.

As it is, I'm no "dog racist" and I now think mixed breeds are in fact the best bet when it comes to resiliency and health. The dogs I had had lots of health problems associated with their breed. Mixed ones some of my friends had - not so much.

To stay on topic, one of the things I hate are people who look down on crossbreeds. Dog is a dog, every one of them is a godsend and man's best friend.

I think the problem is that most people think "purebred" and "inbred" are synonmous terms. I blame puppy mills for that.
