Trailer Platoon History
Quick question for the old salts around here - do any of you know the approximate year when MEUs started to designate and train a Trailer/Security Platoon? Just trying to establish an approximate length of time that the Security Element mission has existed.

1991-1992'ish. I would wait for SB to weigh in to get a more specific answer.

I know it was originally called "cover" platoon, or at least at some point prior to trailer platoon.

Great, exactly the info I was after. SB or 8654, did SOTG run a course for the platoon from the beginning, or did that come about later?
