My Son heads out to Benning on Monday to start BCT.

Congratulations to your Son. There are still some good kids in this millennial generation.

There are that, but not near as many as I would like. All your sons and daughters will have their work cut out for them, and God speed to them all!

Good luck to your son! Are you going to get to see him graduate?

The graduation ceremony may take place at the Infantry Museum. If so, you're luck because it's world class and a definite must see. I was there yesterday with my girls and even they were fascinated by the exhibits. We spent 2-hours and barely covered 50% of it.

I wish him the very best of success! I am always pleased to hear of young men who are still willing to step up to the plate and answer the call to serve their nation -- especially when that nation is falling apart.

Jump school was not hard, but the heat in July was a bit brutal. Then we had those showers after every block of instruction and the sawdust was my friend!

Thanks Guys. Mom is taking it hard. He should be somewhat accustomed to the heat growing up in Southeast Texas.

My mom was in tears and my dad was laughing on the pre-dawn morning the recruiter picked me up. That image is fixed in my brain, both standing on the porch bathed in light while the recruiter backed out of the driveway. The last words I remember my mom saying, were to the effect of and directed towards the recruiter, "take care of him." That just caused my dad to chuckle even harder. Next time I saw them was at Benning in the area of my OSUT company on the day before graduation. Both are long gone now...

Son called today! AIT training is going good! Staying busy, runs every morning and classes all day! He was a little bummed though! Seems a certain aviation unit had been around actively recruiting but since he's guard and not active duty, he couldn't get an interview! At least he's got his sights set high!

He can always go active in time and the recruiters will still be there! I pray your son continues to do well. AIT was fun, except for the amount of shitbirds! I went through AIT competing against a black dude, named Simpson. He and I were neck and neck on every level through our tour at 2/75. He was and probably still is, a class act ! I was B Co. , Simpson was A Co.

Spent the last 3 days at Benning for my son's BCT graduation. I'll echo the thoughts of the first post in this thread. I was able to meet and visit with some of my son's buddies. I was impressed.

My Dad took me downtown to the MEPs hotel, the last thing he said as I was getting out of the car - "For Gods sake, whatever you do don't get married". I think he meant in general but he could have been speaking specifically about strippers, I never asked.

LOL. The older I get the smarter my dad gets.

Pretty sure it wasn't just strippers.

Agreed, when I was at Benning a couple of weeks ago, I was searching for the Pathfinder school as it was moved a few years back. I ran into a couple of E4 Rangers going into the BAC dorms. I suspect they were there to provide the Ranger-bound graduates with the appropriate greeting as they escorted them over to the Regiment. Their demeanor and presence was Ranger-like (fit, strong military bearing), but to my shock they actually had hair sticking out from under their tan berets.
