A Tale of the Grenada Raiders

My memoir of the Grenada invasion, Operation Urgent Fury, is finally published on Amazon.

A tale of war told through the eyes of a participant, A Tale of the Grenada Raiders: Memories in the Idioms of Dreams, recounts the battle to seize Point Salines, the liberation of American students at Grand Anse, and the raid on the Calivigny barracks.

I will never say that this book speaks for anyone other than myself, but this work of Military History cites facts, it names names, and it publishes many photographs, most for the first time.

Available in Kindle eBook format for immediate delivery, Amazon also offers a very expensive softcover version.

The high cost is due to the 8.5x11-inch large format of the book, and to the number of photographs. The book is 377 pages long, and it weighs 2.4lbs. It is a big book.

Also available on iBooks, Apple is accepting preorders for delivery on November 25, 2017.

The Kindle version looks great, you can receive it in moments, and it is not too expensive. The softcover version is for those who simply must hold a physical book in their hands.

It took me 26 years to complete this book.

I hope that you like it.

Hold onto it bro, and wait for one of my visits back to the Orlando VA. I have no concrete plans to travel at this point, but if history is any guide I will be returning.

Unless someone is coming to Bangkok. The physical book is too large and too heavy to mail. I remember that Tom Greer sent me an Author's Copy of his book Killing bin Ladin a few years ago, and it cost him $35. One way.

Amazon does not offer Author's Copies. It is what it is.

But thanks for buying it! Please tell me how it looks. I have not seen the physical book myself yet.

Magic Man, you're the Bard, keep telling those stories as they need to be told. The youngins need to gather around to hear the tales of days gone past and heroes doing the deeds. There is no substitute for authenticity.

Definitely going to purchase both the ebook and the softcover. Going to spread the word since there are a few Grenada Raiders around here where I work. Thanks you Magician for your work. RLTW!

Doc...already 50 pages in. Nicely done, well written and the pics add a certain flavor to the men and your words. Once finished I'll write you a review on Amazon--keep writing, it is a nice distraction and somewhat of a soul healing endeavor. At least it is for me...

Thank you, Martin.

I am thinking about doing an edition with no photos. I could reduce the form factor down to 6x9 with no concerns about color pics and blurriness.

I would have to muck around with font sizes, but that is not that big a deal.

That could make an edition that sells in softcover for a much more reasonable price.

Thank you very much for reading!

It really helps when you leave a short review on the order page, and if you think that it sucks you can say so.

I am very humbled that anyone wants to read what I write. Most writers languish in oblivion. :)

I'm only on Ch 7, but I am loving this book. Your writing style transcends (or it should) a military only reading audience. Intellectual, even spiritual - while still maintaining the grit of telling a Ranger's story. I felt like I was in that C-130... It will be a late night tonight as I will read as much of this as I can.

I am also very glad I got the softcover version. The convenience of reading on the kindle is great - but having the hardcopy means I have a piece of history. Well done, Magician.
