Hell, I'd be giving an ovation to. What a better demonstration of the falcon's superior hunting ability than for it to take out another bird in air to air combat. Have any of them ever dropped bombs on the crowd in the form of bird turds? Might as well cover all the bases.

I was actually talking about the falcon departing the area. Never seen one hit a bird in flight during a demo. Would have been cool though I agree. They are beautiful birds.

Check out some combined arms action filmed in Spain, a Saluki and Peregrine Falcon hunting together. Salukis are pretty cool, don't see too many around any more.

Maybe the Air Force Academy should sign one up! Make those pre-game demonstrations a must see event, fill those stands.

Every Saluki I have seen in person was owned by a SIU grad

A strange choice for a mascot, but southern Illinois is known as Little Egypt and of course Salukis are among the oldest domestic breeds and their likeness has been found on the tombs of Pharaohs.

An interesting dog, but definitely not as cool as having a falcon as a mascot. Although they may be a step up from mules and goats.

You know how conversations with senior citizens or kindergarteners always go.

Is that a shot?

I did predict an Army win and was surprised at the out come as Army hasn't been the same since Rodger Staubach.

Only if the pistol's in my mouth, because I'm just as guilty of derailing.

Perhaps he was referring to the demoralizing effect Mr. Staubach had on West Point for decades to follow.

President Kennedy (another Navy guy) tosses the coin and Roger got the Heisman, back in those days Navy would go to any length to win. Quite aware of who played where.
