Fubar-

What I really like about expensive tequila is that I feel like my early twenties again and can't get a hangover.

I think sipping a very nice tequila straight is pretty much the best when it comes to alcohol, better than brandy, whisky or beer.

Not all Cuervo sucks. Reserva de la Familia is fantastic (and $200).

Don Julio 1942 is amazing.

Altos is pretty great for $22, surprisingly so.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that somewhat important price detail in my prior post.

I too rarely, if ever, feel hungover after a night of good tequila.

All the jokes out there about bad tequila memories are just that - memories caused by drinking cheap, bad tequila. Jose makes many a girl take her clothes off - but she'll never get over her "bad" behavior. Jose becomes a scapegoat to excuse her stupidity. I've done stupid shit on bad booze. Doesn't really matter the type.

HDLS - I'll give their premium brand a shot. Thanks for the recommendation.

I'll add my praise for Don Julio 1942. It's very smooth with well rounded flavors.

Just remember, don't get a dusty bottle of Julio 42.

It might still be from that bad batch in circulation.

If it doesn't raise your eyebrows and relax your sole (sipping it, not shooting it back) and your soul, then shit on me, it prolly aint the real stuff.

Part of being a young soldier stationed at Ft. Bliss in 1964, was to go visit "the zoo" (Juarez). Among my memories was the 5 cent shots of Tequila, complemented by salt and lemons. A nastier experience, I can not imagine.

Over the years I have tried various brands of the drink and could not get past the the unpleasant memories of those first attempts at drinking.

An old USMC (EOD) 2nd Lieutenant introduced me to Drambuie in 1969 and that remains my go to for times of raising a glass in memory of.

To all of you that do enjoy a taste of cactus, I'll be having a shot of something that brings back fond memories tonight.

No matter what evil drink you may imbibe in, I wish you a safe and 'Happy New Year'.
