Yep. We usually threw them for bait such as mullet and shad, but there were times where we would literally catch ice chest fulls of shrimp as well. Often, we would chance 15-20 count shrimp just throwing from the bank. Those were good times.

Not technically fishing but you had to use a rod to get him close to the boat. Got this one last night.

Proper details required!

Length, girth, weight, bait used, how dispatched etc...

I’ve never seen an alligator in the wild, much less landed one, but I guessing length is around 8’.

This one was 9’6”. We were trolling in Lake Poinsett in Coco Beach. We saw her crossing about 50m from the boat and cast a line over the area after she went down and the hook caught her in the upper part of the torso. Pretty amazing fight to bring her in. After about ten minutes we got her on the side of the boat and hit her with bang stick. Did not get an official weight but pulling her in she had to be around 250lbs. I have the video but its too big to post.

Hey, don't short change yourself. I've watched Swamp People. A 9'6" gator weighs at least 800 pounds.

Nice fish all!

I hooked a 4-5 foot gator on a Rapala floating minnow on the Canoochee River at Ft. Stewart once. Not by choice. That was quite a scrap. I had to cut the line because HH6 was freaking out the closer I got it to the bank.
