What date was the check cashed? NFA Tracker posts are saying shit has sped up, but I don't know how accurate that is. I'm coming up on 5 months - probably wait til 8 and make a call just to check.

Also, I went to a SilencerShop kiosk and did everything (including fingerprints) electronically. I also filed as an individual and not through my trust.

I am impressed DirtyDog - as many Govt watch lists as you are probably on I would have thought they would be taking stuff away from you - not giving you access to more stuff.

Though it could be a trap......

Haha yeah given where I am now and the things I have access to sometimes I wonder if it's a "keep your enemies close" sort of mindset........or that because I have literally no arrests or convictions (minus the minor traffic infractions) of any sort they really didn't have a basis to deny my clearance.

Of course, I do constantly make so many little underhanded quips at work (very tame in comparison to what my alternate persona on this site has said) that whenever a sovereign citizen role-player is needed I'm first up to be volun-told to perform. Kind of annoying in a way.

I just did another Form 4 + $200 stamp today so we'll see how long it takes this time.

I was in my favorite shop today, and was asking about the kiosk. They just had a guy who's plan was to buy 12 cans. I don't know why, he didn't tell me. So this guy used the kiosk, as an individual, and his stamps, for all 12, came back in 36 days.

They said that after June of this year, it's taking on average, for people using the kiosk in their shop, between 3 and 6 weeks.

The dealer and I also called Silencershop and confirmed that if you do the kiosk with them you'll never have to submit fingerprints again (they're good for life with them), and the photograph only has to be done once every year.

I used the Kiosk, and yes, as long as you go through SS, you can just order, pay, and wait. Their App even takes the picture. IIRC, they just hired a very good crew of programmers that found a way to automate the forms - like TurboTax does. Most DMVs now a days have scanners for some type of Biometric that is gov approved - so they may have incorporated one of those.

Considering the whole NFA is f'n BS, good on them for making it easier. Now if only Form 4 E-File would start...

Please pardon the ignorance but I find the part, about it being far less of a wait for an individual vs a trust , intriguing.

Is there something inherently more difficult about doing their stupid little investigation on a trust as opposed to an individual? Especially a trust that has 1 individual in it?

Seems like another forcing action to me. Either way, it's annoying.

Another metric to look at it would be a trust that used the SS kiosk (I have a buddy that used it for prints and photo. Not sure if he filed his form through it or the dealer though) vs someone that just did everything the hard way (sheriffs office prints, passport photos, filed through dealer).

No chai —- the only difference between trusts and individual, I believe, is that all people on the trust have to have a background investigation (fingerprints, pics(?)). If there is only 1 person on the trust I don’t believe that it makes it any different than if it was an individual, functionally speaking. Now, administratively, I don’t know if there are different groups of clerks that handle the trusts and the individuals ——and depending on who has the bigger workload (or lack of manpower resources) it makes wait times artificially different.

I have a good friend of mine that is a lawyer that deals in trusts and he is adamant that all it takes to get around all the BS involved is if you simply amend the trust before you add an item to remove all beneficiaries from the trust. Then after the ATF approves the item, draft another amendment to the trust to include those people again.

What I desperately want, and I heard SS is working on, is an e-Form 1 service at their kiosk. I suck at doing my own fingerprints and have ruined about 4 of the cards so far. I have a few SBRs I want to create from pistols.

DD-That was my understanding of the differences (or lack thereof) as well. It's frustrating to think that people are getting their shit back in weeks (congrats by the way) as opposed to 8+ months.

It's 2019.. EVERYthing should be (or at least have the option of) e-form. Lost the paperwork? Great, look it up in your email or work box or whatever it goes to. I think the process is still "manual" because it let's them be slow as shit. Same with VA stuff.

Good info here in this forum. I was looking at a can yesterday; silencerco omega 30. Seemed reasonable, and was also reading the "Cans for Dummies" thread. Trying to figure out what to buy, 30 cal and run on my 5.56s as well, brand to buy, etc. However, I digress.

Question: Did you purchase your can from the Silencershop or from the dealer in your area using the kiosk? I ask as I am interested in the Free shipping and no sales tax. The suppressor I was looking at yesterday is more at the place I was looking than from Silencerco when I factored in sales tax where I live (8.25%). Still shopping around for prices and the best price.
