I believe he would be pissed at folks mopping around about him.
He was my boss and signed off on my retirement paperwork while I was AD when they lifted the Stop Loss. He would stop by at least once a week early in the morning while we were eating a quick bite. We would discuss all kinds of stuff that we needed to start up again (this was 2002/3 timeframe so think Hatchet Teams and other solving the world's problems). One day I went up to present him a solution when he was the J3. His Deputy and my Branch Chief said, “he is going to kill you,” and wouldn’t go in with me. I walked in and started talking and he said with a snicker in a very low whisper, “Dave, wait a minute” and pointed at the door where the other two were hiding. Then he yelled, “You two chicken shit bastards best stop eavesdropping and get your asses in here now if you want to know what’s going on!” They sheepishly came in, I finished talking, and he accepted my solution with no modifications. We, at least he an I, all got a good laugh. He was one of the best bosses I have had. I'll raise a shot for him. |

Knew him when I was at JSOC and he was in Delta, fine man.
Does anyone have any details about the accident? I haven’t seen anything about it. |

He was mowing some grass on his farm on a slope and (I believe) his tractor overturned killing him.

First met Eldon at Fort Benning in 1979. Over the years he was a much respected friend, mentor, and sounding board.
Rest in peace, Sir. Rest in peace. I will speak your name three times to the mountains. https://www.*********.com/news/your-...ower-accident/ |
