Injured EOD Tech.

EODC Kenton Stacy was extensively injured by an IED this week. He is on the long road back to the States. He has a wife and 4 kids. He is the Platoon Chief that relieved my son's team.

From a minister with the family:

Kenton has arrived in San Antonio. Kenton has TBI traumatic brain injury. He has a trach in place and is on an echo gram that is doing the breathing for him. He has his abdomen sealed with a wound vac. He has three chest tubes in place. He has a laceration on on his right eye and his left eye is an open globe injury. His left retina is detached. Kenton has major spinal cord damage between c5 and c7. They will be doing some skin grafting on his left hand and on his leg. His left leg is fractured. He has a broken tibia and fibula. He is in surgery now to put in a more stable trach. He will be having his eyes worked on to re-attach the retina and getting fragment pieces out.

He was clearing a Syrian hospital.

Praying for a quick recovery for CPO Stacy. The Navy EOD community has a special place in my heart that goes back 38 years.

I'm in touch with the Team he was attached to when injured, they've been seeking updates to ensure CPO Stacy is being cared for as well as his family.

Thanks to jw for the updates, I was able to give the feedback to the Team.

Wow, thoughts and prayers out and I will share the donation page with all of my friends. Thanks for posting, JW. Even as a prior AD Navy EOD guy, I am always humbled by the accounts of the new crop of EOD techs. Balls of steel.

Update:

Here is a report from Kenton's father, Dave, this morning (11/14)
GOOD NEWS: Kenton woke up this morning about 5 AM and responded to the nurse. He tried to talk but could not due to his tracheotomy. The nurse thought he was trying to say the words to the music they were playing. He also showed some movement in his shoulders/upper body. They also say his lungs are doing great.

TODAY'S AGENDA: Remove tubes used to circulate blood to his brain. Turn him over so they can check for injuries to the back of his neck.

TOMORROW'S PLAN: Work on his broken leg. THURSDAY OR FRIDAY: Evaluation by the neurosurgeon.

The damage to his left eye and his spinal cord are the main concerns.

I'm here in SA and tracking him. Saw him today before he went to surgery on his leg. Spoke to his parents. They are still trying to process.
We will take care of him and walk the journey with him as we have many others.
