At the risk of sending the thread off topic, I have agree with the above.
Example. A couple of years ago I was preparing for a task with a small-team thrown together with guys from two nations. On arrival it dawned that Nation 1 were the talent and Nation 2 were the labour. First day on the range they flipped out at our technique and mission training was put on hold for several days while were first had to re-learn to do basic things their way. Shredded targets, not to mention decades of experience, meant nothing because "you're holding the weapon all wrong".
Sucked it up as dutiful subordinates should in the interests of achieving the end goal (and team harmony) but it was annoyingly counterproductive.
Process driven vs results driven

For the record I'm a two eyes open guy. It used to be by choice but now it's compulsory due to contact lense old-guy issues

Draw from my holster, open eyes, gun is at chest level, looking at my target, isosceles, will hit kill box; very quickly, eyes open, catch the front sight- head shot. I practice one handed L/R,2 rds each, about 5yrds.

I squint. I'm a dead shot with a rifle. Shitty with a hand gun but I also never practice.

For me it depends. I can shoot both eyes open, but I can shoot more accurately if I close my left eye, or at least squint with it.

Both eyes open when I have my glasses on pistol shooting....otherwise, when you're older and the glasses are off (or if you're born with bad vision).....it's pretty tough to see because even the sights are blurry,....and that's a BIG problem when lining things up.

Guess I have to train at times without my glasses on....just have to make sure the target is close and practice. (any suggestions much appreciated!).

Do whatever you need to do to hit your target accurately and quickly.

Most people will never be good enough or in a situation where they notice one method being inferior or superior to the other.

What method do most of the professional shooters such as Latham, Miculek, etc use?

Both open for iron sights and holo sights. I use right eye dominant for right handed shooting, and switch to left eye for off hand shooting, but still both open.

I close one for scoped rifles. Not the one looking through the scope...

Sound advice Mr. Stan

Iíve noticed throughout my life that the best teachers/coaches have the ability to explain exactly what needs to be done in two sentences or less.

Both eyes open. While looking forward I can hit anything in my peripheral vision just by pointing at it. After 25 yards I start to use my sights.

Thank you Mike.

There was a time when I taught firearms as a job, and often I long for those days to return.

^^^Well....your words carry a lot of weight and I for one, really appreciate it.

Same thing goes for what CAP said in 'get off the X'. Took me a little while to figure out what he was saying....but once I realized what he meant, I completely understood and now I won't forget it and will look to implement that component when I train.

That's what good coaches do....they help you figure things out 'on your own'.
