Operation Mountaineer Highway

https://www.wvnstv.com/local-news/fa...ugs/1479135386

Big bust in my AO. Has been planned for awhile. Apparently, this stretched from SC to WV to NJ. Target was heroin, fentanyl & pills.

Good! Looks like 54 in my County were busted with some on the run.

They have been easy on the MJ unless just stupid amounts were involved.

Included multiple agencies State & Federal.

No.

It's is essential impossible to OD from touching fentanyl or any other opioid. All you're doing is perpetuating a baseless urban myth. I expect better from someone with medic in their username.

See for yourself.

Overdose may have been the wrong word to use, "laid out on the ground" maybe?

If it is in power form and you have sweat or other liquids that cause it to become liquid on your skin you are at risk. That is why you need to use protective clothing and gloves when ever you deal with it.

Why take a chance is our perspective.....

The urban legend that refuses to die.

Bottom line: all experts agree that you will not overdose on opioids through contact with the skin. Doesn't matter the form, doesn't matter the quantity. The research and associated data are freely available if you're interested in spreading facts instead of rumor, urban legend and speculation.

Pills are the new moonshine there and in the State in general.

This crackdown on opioids, smack, fentanyl and Meth is a REALLY good thing.

Apparently, personally ordered by the POTUS to the AG to fix. He did say he was going to take care of this opioid crisis and WV is among the hardest hit by it. So, hes doing what he said...fighting the war on opiates. This investigation was in the works for over a year.

I knew a big op was coming about 2 months ago.

ETA - the bad side of it is I know people who really need pain management but can't get a script for the fuckers like these guys arrested in this op.

Unless, you are post surgical or end of life care...you ain't getting shit. There are some things that cortisone injections and walking in a pool for therapy just don't help.

It wonderful what you get when isi g google. Use the following search string and see what else has been reported:

law enforcement officer exposed to fentanyl

Just saying.
There’s always two sides to the story.

As far as I'm aware all of the law enforcement exposure stories have turned out to be greatly overblown. Anecdotes aren't evidence, but my buddy who has zero opiate tolerance took an open bag of fentanyl out of a guy's pocket bare handed with significant contact with the powder and was just fine beyond being scared shitless.

To remember, and then go back to the ledgers and the commuter train, that was impossible. He knew he would eat his heart out if it ever came to that."

If the President, AG and the rest of law enforcement were truly serious about the opioid crisis, especially when it came to the use of OxyContin, they would have gone after the kingpins responsible for the whole mess to begin with.

They could have started with Purdue Pharma, as big a pusher as El Chapo ever was. I guess because they were FDA approved and "legit", in addition to having pockets deep enough to make the right kind of payoffs (i.e., campaign contributions), they were effectively off limits.

Same old song and dance that has been going on since Nixon's administration kicked off the whole "War on Drugs".

Find a peer reviewed study supporting the possibility that touching fentanyl can cause an overdose and we'll talk. I'd truly be interested to read it, since I teach pharmacology at the university level and have yet to find one.

Just saying.

I know of LEO's getting fucked up during Meth lab bust but have never heard of any other harmful exposures from other drugs.

Its fentanyl. Not mustard gas.
