The Man in the High Castle by Philip K Dick is under 300 pages, and will not answer any questions. All it really does is to set the parameters of what's going on in this miniseries: the US lost the war and is now occupied, and fast forward 20 years and there is a resistance and a novel with a novel (no movies in the book). All of this alternate universe stuff is Hollyweird, not PKD.

An interesting (and quite dark) alternate history novel about the Axis winning World War II is The Final Solution by Eric Norden, which came out in the early 70s.

(My High School library had a copy which is kind of surprising when I think about it)

Absent the intervention of space aliens, the Germans couldn't have done jack shit vs the USA, they could not even invade the UK, they didn't have the sealift, or the ability to create it. In fact, our choices in the runup to WW2 were pretty crappy, to be expected with a socialist as President; concerned with his commie fellow travelers, not actual Americans. If we would have followed smart Americans, concerned with American interests, like Lindbergh instead of that loathsome cripple Roosevelt, the commies and nazis would have bled each other white, and we would have been in a better position vs all the Trotskyists that were infesting the US government. See the Venona intercepts. S/F....Ken M

The first time I saw A Few Good Men was in Seattle; my wife and I went to see it when it was just released. I was probably the only military guy in the audience. I cheered in the exact opposite parts than the rest of the (unwashed hippies) audience.

Wow on the cost of that book -- I picked up a used copy from Amazon about 20 years ago for $10 or something . . . .

If you look at other buying options you'll find prices as high as $578.00. For a paperback.

You won't find lower price options, just higher.

Finished S1 today. This show has been great so far. I'm having a difficult time figuring out Joe Blake's allegiance, and some of the side stories which makes it that much more intriguing.
