Tactical games

Has anyone done one of these?

https://thetacticalgames.com

If so-
How big is the competition field?
Are they legit competitors or just wannabes looking for a tactical circle jerk?
How long is the competition/how many events?

I just saw this and see that TRC hosted it recently which lead me to believe it to be a good competition. I like the idea of lots of stress shoots but don’t want to go to something that’s just a CrossFit wod with kit.

I know Tim, we had crossed paths often in 7th SFG. We have a mutual bud that is one of my closest friends that mentioned the tactical games to me recently. I personally don't see Tim getting involved in creating something simply for profit, rather he would look to create/sustain something that is challenging and testing of skills. I think one of my former dudes (now retired) participated in one not too long ago. I'll check with him and see what he has to say in response to your questions.

I'll second Godzilla's view. Tim was one of my MEDLAB instructors, and later we served as medics in the same company in 7th. Tim does good work.

My friend Ivan took second in the Elite Division at the North Carolina event in October. He said the field was a mix of SOF/MIL, SWAT/LE and regular dudes. 1st and 3rd were mil guys.

Messaged the guy I mentioned in my previous post that I thought had participated in the Tactical Games. He had and thought it was a good mixture of physical and skill requirement. He thought the competitors were good folks, most were legit mil/former mil or LEO minus a couple dudes. He said the two that didn't have a mil/LEO background still did well.

I like the look and concept of it a lot. It wouldn’t be too hard to setup a course of your own, if you had a bit of property. You could build a few general backstops along a path. Allow enough room from path to the backstops to give you flexibility on where targets could be placed for different situations. You could throw in a couple corner/center-fed rooms, “hallways” with shit in the way (because of course there will be shit in the way).

Done well, it could be a great stimulus/filter/evaluating/vetting tool as well.

I still get paid for it. Just looking into new ideas on stage design, incorperation of different physical activities into shooting drills, etc...

Profeesional development rather than competition.

Yeah, but when you do it this way, no one's shooting back at you.

I know that you are well aware, and while these kind of events are
not my thing, enlisting is kind of a bigger commitment than a one-off event... plus, I would be willing to bet that the majority of the target audience is ineligible, ie.. too old, fat, satisfied with the life that they have currently carved out for themselves to commit to Military service. (I fit in to that category)

Looks pretty cool, good luck!
