That's pretty impressive. He's definitely built to put up a sub 2:00 time.

Haha that's not a good sign. The video itself is only about 3 minutes long. Once you take a look at it, you'll see what I mean by he's built to go sub 2 min.

Okay... so I started crossfit in the 2nd week of September. I had not run much at all in the last 10 years and honestly, hadn't done much of anything except get fatter. I weighed 260, couldn't do a pull up, and couldn't run a mile without stopping to walk.

Today I did Filthy 50 in 44:26. I'm doing pullups in sets of 5-7 now (with my best day being 60 reps), weighed 245 today, and am running 5K's in just over 30 minutes.

Certainly not a stellar performance, but it's a major increase for me. I'm actually kind of proud to just be doing something to get healthier, as a way of life. Even in the Army I did it because I had to. Now it's personal. Anyway, just thought I'd share that.

By the way... the Filthy 50 rates way up there on suck factor.

Good stuff, Yojinbukai!

When I started XFit in Jan, I did today's WOD as a benchmark. It is:

5 rounds for max reps:
Bodyweight Bench Press
Pullups

In January, I did:
38 Pullups
12 reps Bench

Today:
65 Pullups
65 reps Bench

My pullups are actually down from a PR of 78, but they haven't been as emphasized lately, as I'm doing some different programming. Bench was on a Hammer Strength machine, so it's not quite a true representation, but I'm still happy to improve.

WOD: From Tropical Thunder... "Full Retard" as designed by a SEAL

Buddy exercises today.
250 pound tire flip, bound in-bound out. Five minutes alternating guys.
250 meter run with buddy carry of an ammo crate filled with sandbags.
Climb 216 stairs to the top of the powerplant here (14 flights)
Come back down, 250 meter sprint (or crawl)
Push a Bongo III for 2 minutes, with 100 meters as the goal.

We were aiming for three rounds but had to stop after two due to work. No one complained that we didn't get the third round in though.

I was paired with a young 1LT who is in great shape, but he couldn't push the truck much.

Tire flips 44/33
Run + Stairs 9:01 / 9:40
Truck push 125 meters / 100 meters

I think this one sucked worse than the filthy 50.

I haven't done a CF workout in the last two months. I figured I'd do the one on the USMC Birthday.

In Honor of the USMC:

50 Burpees
50 Pullups
50 Wall Ball (20lbs Ball, 12ft Target)
50 Push Press (95lbs)
33 DLs (185lbs)

Time- 24:14 (half-ass)

This is supposed to be my deload week so I didn't push it all out. Probably could've finished around a sub 20min. That half a pizza I ate earlier didn't sit well with me.

Interesting...my post from yesterday didnt post. Anyway, I have been working out with Alamo CF for the past 2 days...GREAT program.

Yesterday--

W/U:

1 min each/2 rounds

Jumping Jacks
Shuffle Splits
Squat Hold
Samson Stretch
800 yd run

W/O:

As many rounds in 20 min--

20 Walking KB Swings (let the hip thrust bring you forward two steps...throws a bit of coordination into the KB Swing)
20 Walking Lunges
10 Squat Jumps
20 Walking Lunges

Rick stops all newbies to the gym, experienced or not, at the half way mark. (Thank GOD!) My fat ass has been out of practice for the past 3 months and almost lost it.

Today--

After waking up INCREDIBLY sore...

W/U:

Same - 800 yd run

W/O:

As many rounds in 20 min:

10 Slam Balls
50 yd Sprint
10 Air Squats
50 yd Walking Lunges

Again, stopped at the half mark (10 min)...finished the Slam Balls of my 5th round. Still a fat ass.

OOC, out

1100 calories burned.

Warm up: 4x Barbell Complex (95#, 95#, 95#, 95#)
1x Barbell complex = 6 reps each (no rest (in theory)) of:
Dead lift
Bent over row
Hang Power Clean
Front Squat
Push Press
Back Squat
Push up (deleted due to prevent bending of my broken-toe)

Training:

(1) Work up to 1RM Front Squat (Jim's note - I started low on my 1RM because this is the first time I have done this exercise and need to practice it more. I said 1RM == 115lb.)

(2) 10 Rounds
3x Front Squat @ 75% 1RM, Every 40 seconds (Jim's note - 80lb)

(3) 5 Rounds
8x Dead Lift @ 185#
5x 1-arm weighted situp, each arm - For this exercise this means holding the dumbell with your arm extended, not the weight against your chest

(4) 3 Rounds
10x Elevated push up
8x Standing Dumbbell Press

(5) 3 Rounds
1 min Kettlebell Swing @ 24kg (only have a 16kb for now)
30 seconds rest
