Sending Passport to company

I received an e-mail from a company that just doesn't sit well with me. I'm not sure if I am just paranoid or what... I have seen some threads or posts on here about to NEVER give anyone your passport, etc.

The company wants me to send them my tourist passport via FedEx along with 4 more passport applications and photo sets, and possibly my official passport. Two applications are blank and two are completely filled out, they are all signed as well. Should this be something to look into or is this standard procedure?

I apologize for not knowing anything about this process as I am new to this whole scene. I have done some digging around and haven't seen anything like this before but that doesn't mean I didn't miss a post or thread, so if that is the case I apologize for starting a repeat thread. I would also have contacted my recruiter but I have had quite a few e-mails from a ton of separate sections and I am unsure of who really is my "recruiter"...

Thank you for the help in advance.

Sending Pix and Passports for OCONUS work that requires a Visa is not out of the ordinary. I am guessing that the completed and blank PP apps are for the dumb asses that cannot follow instructions. I personally would not send a signed and blank PP app with pictures. I find my own work OCONUS and have more freedom of maneuver in what I do and don't send. There are those here that live in the world you seek to join and may have better insight.

I send mine to my company about every five years to have India and China visas renewed. If it's not for a visa I would ask some more questions but it's not uncommon.

TFG, hawkdrver,

Roger, and thank you. I had similar thoughts of people just not following instructions, etc. but was just unsure if common practice.

Not necessarily out of the norm. Is the contract supporting a government client and is the company reputable?

I've always had to send my passport to companies to have visas done, except for TC's KBOSSS contract. they have you get it done at their visa facilities there.

It's normal. Send it to them

Take it with you to training, if they haven't asked for it by then; they will probably ask for it at that point.

I have no clue, I am not sure how long the process is for this kind of work (First contract)

I am currently waiting for a training date as well... Well picking the training date I should say. I am currently enrolled for the fall semester at a university so I am not sure how that is going to affect training / deployment. Training wouldn't be too much of an issue if I miss a couple days, I just don't want to have to back out of the school completely and owe money, etc. Has anyone had a similar experience?

How are you as a student in online classes? If that works for you, do both. You can take online classes from anywhere.

Honestly not good at all, But it could be worth looking into. I have taken one so far and I think I was having a hard time communicating with the professor on due dates, projects, etc. I was doing that online class, with regular classes, and working full time. Not like it was too much or anything just hard to keep track of that, deal with family nonsense, everything else all at once. Also I decided to take some more difficult classes according to my wife.

Are online classes able to be done easily while deployed? I guess I just didn't think there would be enough time to do that kind of thing.
