"I don't shovel driveways"

Shit I shoveled the drive of anyone who wanted to pay. Used to get extra for clearing out the overnight plow crap so the men could get out to work in the morning. Actually shoveled throughout the night during one blizzard - was kind of surprised that the P's let me do that but it was for the neighbors.

There is a clear disconnect between science and people who live near the ocean, at least for Cape Cod and I expect it extends to other places as well. I wrote that "spring tide" was not a sharp response. It is a sharp and correct response from the stand point of science. But people on the coast distinguish between one kind of high tide and another. When both the moon and the sun are close to the earth and the time for high tide comes, is it a spring tide? Sure. But people on Cape Cod, at least, will call it an astronomical high tide. Not science, but not hyperbole, either. Sorry 'bout that.

Out here, that is a recipe for an avalanche. Is it mountainous in that area?

No, not by any stretch of the imagination.

I lived on Cape Cod for two years - East Falmouth. Fished a lot, and dug quahogs as well, so we knew a little about tides. We called it "high tide," and the occasional "spring tide." Never heard that other term up there. Not a single time.

A check of my thesaurus shows no synonyms for "spring tide."

My dictionary has no definition for either "astronomical tide" or "astronomical high tide."

Sorry 'bout that.

Except watching on CNN I just saw there is a travel ban in NY. You can be arrested and fined...

Just doesn't sit well with me.. "A full Travel ban".

Yeah, maybe snowplow drivers are "courageous." It takes me at least 3 cups of coffee to work up the courage to scrape my own windshield.

Agreed, I got that too....but, "New York".

I find it ironic that any of the original 13 colonies are now ground zero for collectivist, authoritarian BS....

Meh. We got about a half inch here in Georgia, and it paralyzed the entire Atlanta metro.

More or less the same in Woodlawn, outside gate 10 of Fort Campbell. Had to go to work yesterday and watch the snow fall and then shovel it today.

125' driveway = 2 hours of shoveling...
