Are you fucking serious? That's the most ridiculous thing I've heard all week...and I'm at a senior staff planning conference, so, the bar has been set pretty high. You should be proud. - Gavin

This is the real deal- a certain unit was to go in and blow up the Pueblo. He tells me Congress called it off.

Naval Oceanographic Office terminated all their civilian employees who were aboard the Pueblo for being AWOL. Their families lost cars, homes, etc.
They had to reinstate them after repatriation, but the families were still screwed over.

They didn't receive POW Medals because the Navy classified them as detainees, Congress had to rectify this.

We had a chance to get the ship back, but Clinton took no action.

I hope the current negotiations with NK may include getting the Pueblo back?

NK will never let go of Pueblo IMO. Too much PR to gain from having it.
I often wondered - if the cabinets holding the equipment were not so sturdy and they managed to destroy everything aboard before being boarded, would their fate have played out differently? I think not. I think they would get charged with same crimes and tortured regardless. But what NKs found onboard plus Walker spy ring was of great use to Soviets. Someone might even wonder that it was no accident the Pueblo got captured at the time Walker started his espionage.

CT2 Wayne Anderson was my high school history teacher. As a dumbass teenager I had no idea how honored and humbled I should have been to have been in his classroom.
