Jury Convicts Former CIA Officer of Espionage

Jury Convicts Former CIA Officer of Espionage

“It is a sad day when an American citizen is convicted of spying on behalf of a foreign power It's hard understand why someone
would do this.

What I have noticed is more an more of this is coming to light, now that we have a President cares for our country.

Today, a federal jury convicted Kevin Patrick Mallory, 61, a former Central Intelligence Agency case officer of Leesburg, Virginia, on espionage charges related to his transmission of classified documents to an agent of the People’s Republic of China.

No telling what he gave them.

I suspect if we would take these traitors out, once convicted, and shoot them via firing squad, there'd be a lot less of this happening.

Network TV news this evening announced that it was USN plans to rearm their SSN fleet with TASM to deal with Chinese Navy. We haven't done that in a while. Prior (1990s) logic behind that was suppression of shipborne air defenses ahead of inbound strike aircraft.

The USN thing was a hack by the MSS of an unamed DOD contractor and unrelated to Mallory. Oh the hack - 614 gigs off an unclassified system.

WAPO said Mallory was convicted of shopping some DIA info along with some CIA intel assessments of unamed 3rd countries.

I agree 100%. Applies to other criminals too, not just traitors.

With Americans it's always about the money. You never get a good ideological recruitment. Just pay enough and you get whatever you want.

Well when they put a fucking Chinese national (Wen Ho Lee) in a friggin National Lab doing nuke simulations, it's to the point criminal negligence (at BEST). This dual-citizenship crap with people in sensitive positions is just beyond my capacity to describe how utterly retarded our country behaves. Our country is almost too stupid to live. It's almost like there's a pattern forming here. God, If only I could place my finger on it..........

Another BIG factor, as others have stated, is the fact that we just don't kill traitors any more.

Ana Montes.....

Money is usually not the best motivation...but what money can buy is.

You'd be amazed how many born-in-PRC, moved to US-now have a TS clearance in the military-and traveling back to China to visit family-folks there are in the military. Something I never saw when I came in.

But in this case two of the spies were straight up white boys-Mormons for that matter. China has expanded beyond their purely ethnic targeting.

The whole freakout over dual-citizenship is fucking retarded.

Look at the ones who created the most damage. All-American with easy backgrounds.

The problem doesn't lie with ethnical backgrounds, political beliefs, dual citizenship (a distinct advantage for some IC members), or any number of unique identifiers.

It lies with the fact that our CI programs are underfunded and woefully unequipped to effectively address the massive amount of people, places, and information they are supposed to safeguard.

And even by that measure, CI is doing a great job. If you consider the number of people with access to TS information (don't get me started on over-classification) and the resulting extremely-low lack of compromise to FIS, we're still good.

Whether it's money, sex, ego, or a combination thereof, we deal with humans in the Government, and all three of those at some point provide the right motivation for a minuscule group therein to sell out no matter how carefully we vet them.

The following quote is from Wikipedia

Quote:
DIA counterintelligence official Scott W. Carmichael publicly alleged that it was Ana Montes who told Cuban intelligence officers about a clandestine US Army camp in El Salvador.[5][6] Carmichael alleged that Montes knew about the existence of the Special Forces camp because she visited it only a few weeks before the camp was attacked in 1987 by Cuban-supported guerrillas of the Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front (FMLN).

Carmichael, who had led the DIA investigation of Montes, named her as being directly responsible for the death of Green Beret Sergeant Gregory A. Fronius who was killed at El Paraíso, El Salvador, on March 31, 1987 during the FMLN attack.[6] Carmichael characterized the damage Montes caused to the DIA and other US intelligence agencies as "exceptionally grave," and stated that she compromised a "special access program" that was kept even from him, the lead investigator on her case.[5]
I did not know this...
