The Resistance Banker

Itís Dutch. Docudrama about the two Dutch brothers in occupied Netherlands who created an elaborate money laundering and bank fraud/insurance fraud scheme to fund the Dutch resistance and support Allied operations during WW2. The Dutch government-in-exile blessed the operation and provided a guaranty to cover up to 30 million gilders after the war. One brother was caught and executed shortly before D-Day.

After the war, the accounting was provided and the records were accurate to the penny, and the fund still had several million left over.

He's lucky he lasted that long. Allied agents parachuted into Holland by SOE were usually met by a German reception party due to a large part of the Dutch Resistance being under German control the whole war.

Holland is also the location of the one documented instance in the entire war where German soldier who was a member of a firing party about to execute a member of the resistance refused his duty as ordered and was immediately placed against the wall himself.
