Oh, OK. Try both of the middle settings and see how it tastes. You don't want to go too fine, but the coarsest might not be enough. If you go too fine, you'll over-extract and get bitter or sour flavors. Too coarse, and it'll just be brown water.

ROTF LMAO LOL!!! :D Damn Nifty sir.

Much like with a hot tranny in high heels, I couldn't tell good coffee from bad coffee since I'm not a javahed. My sister Jessica on the other hand could probably find something 'a-mis' with your roast- the woman doesn't hava coffee cup at work, she uses an IV bag!

..think I'll check out the website.

Just like I'm pretty sure you'd suddenly discern the difference if you gave the hot tranny a reach around, so you'll know with one sip of our coffee: you just gotta lay hands on it to know. :D

I should offer a camo Camelback filled with pre-brewed coffee for the high speed mofo's, and/or your sis.

For you earthy grubby types: today and tomorrow only, Sumatra is 10% off. Just throw it in the cart to receive the discount, and report back here if you order so I can donate to Socnet.

POISON!!

I'm a tea drinker so I don't know nuthin about that black sludge I see you all drinking.

But it happens that I need to buy a thank you gift for a work colleague and I need some advice. This man loves his coffee, but I don't think he has a grinder; he just buys a few cups every morning on post. As I recall, you once said you only ship coffee beans, not grounds.

So..... what are my options? Am I out of luck? I'd hate to send him a bag of beans only to have him leave them on his shelf because he didn't know what to do with them.

Can you get beans ground at the local supermarket? If I buy them from you, can you grind them for me?

PS, Buying a gift grinder to go with the beans is a bit above and beyond my call of duty....

Well, of course I'd always recommend picking up a $12 blade grinder at your local Bed&Bath or supermarket. But if that's not an option, let me know and I can grind it. keep in mind grinding reduces its shelf life from 4 weeks to, oh, days. It'll still be better than the swill at your local supermarket, but it's just a shame.

Up to you. Just let me know if you need an order ground. :)

Oh, and for tea, try www.farleaves.com .

Poison,

I decided I'd put this off long enough - just placed my order for the Colombia Reserve and the Sumatra. Hubby's been giving me hell for what I've been buying (NOT store-bought - it's mail order, but he's tired of it), and decided I'd give yours a try when I saw the recent posts.

Looking forward to some good coffee!
SJ

Colombia Los Progresivos is up! It's grown in the Cauca region by a group/co-op of indigenous people, called CENCOIC, headed by a woman. It is a micro-lot, meaning the coffee is chose from a very specific area, such as a specific hillside, and NOT blended with coffees from other areas of the farm/finca/growing area. It comes in little 35kg half size bags, and it's VERY limited.

It's a very special coffee, with unusual flavors and aroma. I'm in the process of playing with it now, but rest assured it's the best coffee I have now.
