Icon5 DOS with SOC or T/C

Hello everyone,

Recently my Dept of State clearance was granted thru SOC but when it came time to schedule training they said all the positions are filled.

For those of you that have worked for SOC or Triple Canopy, I would like to know your opinions/facts.

My situation is pretty much should I wait for SOC to get me the WPS course or should I just jump ship to Triple Canopy.

If I'm not mistaken I would have to wait again for the DOS clearance to reinvestigated because they don't transfer over. That's my only setback.

Who is ready to put cash in your pocket right now, and are they offering you what you want?

Both have offers on the table just no WPS slots at the moment with SOC.

T/C said they will have slots available no problem!

I'm patient but I've heard mixed things about T/C and mostly good from SOC. All third party info, I'd like to hear from someone who is working or used to work for either!

T/C would be Afghanistan

SOC would be Bagdad

I am interested in what is involved on transferring a clearance between companies as well. I have had some people tell me that you basically have to do the whole process over again. Others have said that it only takes a couple of weeks. Does anybody here have recent experience with doing this?

Thanks.

I'm beginning the transfer process of switching companies currently and this is what I've been told.. right now its approx 30-45 days to transfer the clearance. They basically will do a brief investigation into the period from when it was granted up until the point it gets transferred. Apparently DOS has frowned on companies who've sat on releasing peoples clearances in the past to screw with them, so it seems the process has been streamlined a bit. TC won't put you through training however until your clearance has been fully transferred over, whereas other companies will start your training during the clearance process.

You may want to research why TC seems to have open slots.

Ive worked for both extensively as well as many others and if I had to choose between the 2 I would hesitantly go with SOC.

SOC would have to release you in writing for T/C to pick up you and your clearance. I went through this last year. T/C did the clearance legwork, but took forever to mobilize me. DynCorp swooped in with a better offer and a plane ticket. We dicked around for three weeks before anyone realized that T/C thought I was still on board. One phone call to the T/C PM, an email, and some behind the scenes work between both company's SOs and it was all sorted out.

TC’s WPS contract in Afghanistan is mobile work, while SOC’s WPS contracts are static work, in case that makes a difference to you.

SOC new hires are now being hired on a "probationary" period. They are paid a reduced daily rate until they finish their probationary period. This period lasts two years. If you are thinking of going with SOC I would clarify what your daily rate will be.

Source? First I've heard of that and I work for them.

You need to go back and read the rules on posting 3rd hand information here or confirm your employment with SOC to legitimize your statement.
