Muscle Stimulator

Is anyone using one? Thoughts? How are you using it (recovery, rehab, etc)?

Just bought a TENS device for my neck/shoulders. If I feel tightness coming on, I put it on and turn it up. Seems to keep muscles from locking up on me

Had one for my back, same results. It'll loosen tight muscles but if you use it every day your body kinda gets used to it, so you gotta keep going higher the settings. No shit story, I got all fired up one night and thought...what if I put the little electrodes on my jaw...forgot I had that little taser fucker set on level ten and flipped the switch--chipped two teeth.

Don't do that...

I used one on my back it helped.

Got mine from the VA. The list of what not to use it on or for was quite long.

That's right. Gotta keep you pervs from hurting your midgets.

In other news.

I have had work done with one in a Chiro up in NOVA. It was pain relieving albeit situational only. Once I was gone from the office, just had to wait it out.

Nothing in my mind trumps Chinese medicine and acupuncture particularly.

I got mine from Amazon. thought it might be kinda like a toy. BUT you crank it up then you will be giving more than name, rank, and serial number.
Don't get it close to your heart or your privates, for obvious results.
If used properly its great for sore muscles, but dangerous around strained or pulled muscles as all that jerking can be painful.
Sore muscles feel better, but you have to keep the little pads clean with alcohol, or they won't stay put.
The more settings bring more relief from sore muscles.
technology is great !

TENS units and electric muscle stimulators are 2 different devices that work in different ways. I've only used the TENS and got it from the VA. I think they are good for very temporary relief of pain. Not sure if you can get a combination unit.

I have been 'issued' two, I gave the first one away as it didn't do anything for me.

I still have one, I charged the batteries and it still works (pic shows screen lit).

There are 10 sets of patches, hard to see in picture.

There are 10 sets of patches and a charger.

The only advice I would give is that pain can come from a screwed up nerve or a muscle.

As I got it from the VA, it cost me zilch, PM address if you want it.

I was just issued one from the VA just like this. I know how to operate it, but I'm still moving it around different areas at a LOWER hertz ...I like it so far. I put it on my back this morning and went about getting myself ready for work. The moving around didnt seem to have interfered. Seems to have worked okay.

But, what is great is that the VA issued me a hot/cold gel pack and when I use it on my shoulders while watching TV, I drop that frozen gel pack on top of the sensors and you wont feel anything. If you try it, dont turn it up too high and only leave the pack on 10 min. That's awesome!

Yup, i bought two for the price of two (long story, lol).

Works great on sore muscles, just don't try move the patch whilst it's working..haha, BTDT!

It's also excellent for long flights to keep the neck/back from seizing up.

My neck is more of a problem than my back. But, I exercise my back better. There's only so much you can do to exercise your neck. I dont swim anymore and that was the best thing for it.

Several years back they gave me an hot water pump. It ran hot water to the pad, worked great. It died and the VA now says that they don't have them anymore and that they never issued them to individuals, (rat bastards).

Rereading OPs post, might you be looking for one of those gizmos that let you get a six-pack while you sleep?

I've quit all pain drugs, except a baby aspirin, they have never worked as I hoped. Like many, you learn to live with something giving you discomfort.

It was a relief to get off the pain med's. They worked to an extent but never touched the nerve pain (not supposed to).

I'm on medication now for the nerve pain and I'm working on a strategy to maintain muscle discomfort without the pain med's.

Check with the VA on the gel pads. You pop it into the microwave for about 4 minutes and it stays good and hot for at least half an hour. They have several different sizes as well depending on how much area you need to cover.

I'm guessing that it would be like trying to do a quick reload on a taser while it's still cycling......you'll only do it once lol
