Portraits of Courage by President Bush

President Bush has recently released a new book, "Portraits of Courage: A Commander in Chief's Tribute to America's Warriors".

The proceeds of the book go to support the Bush Center and the Military Service Initiative, which helps provide transition resources for veterans. A few focuses of the MSI include: creating veteran transition resources and roadmap for transition, addressing invisible wounds of war, maximizing effectiveness of veteran resources through a data-driven approach, and establishing a Team 43 sports program in which the president has annual golfing (Warrior Open) and mountain biking (W100K) events.

He was just on the Today show with 4 vets, talking about their journeys and the paintings in the book. A couple of them are BTDTs. All of the stories are absolutely amazing.

But he doesn't have a Nobel Peace Prize, nor a Profiles in Courage prize.

Very cool. I've already told the family what I want for my birthday. Say what you want about President Bush, I always felt his love for the troops was obvious and sincere. I was honored to serve under him.

I saw him interviewed on Kimmel last week, he's a pretty funny guy, good sense of humor.

Love or hate the guy, you can't question his patriotism.

I'm waiting on the XPres O'bama version. Probably lean heavily on Bergdahl and Chelsea Manning.

Thumbs up

I received my copy of Portraits of Courage earlier this week. I am humbled beyond words by the stories of the men and women who are painted in this book. Not a single story of self pity.

Plus, my mom got to visit the Bush Center museum last week and see the portrait in person. I'm making plans to head down in October and see it.

The book is just simply mind-blowing. The stories, the art, the sense of patriotism and love shown in the paintings...

If anyone would like a copy, they start at just $35 and include free shipping. Highly recommend it.
