Bourbon/Whiskey Thread

I have just recently gotten into really trying other bourbons/whiskeys outside of the Jack Daniels and Jim Beam realm (nothing wrong with them). I've tried a few of the small batch run's and some of the lesser name brands. Among the ones I'm partial to are Black Maple Hill and Elijah Craig small batch bourbon and Masterson's Rye Whiskey. Just wanted to see what others have tried and like. Regards

We had a Bourbon/Whiskey thread and it got lumped into the "alcoholic" beverage thread:

http://www.socnet.com/showthread.php...hlight=bourbon

I still say Blanton's is the best Bourbon there is. It's just exquisite.

I actually agree with mike, the Blanton's is amazing. I'm also a fan of Bulleit both the bourbon and the rye, as well as Buffalo Trace. But Blanton's is awesome. I should really try whistle pig, since I live about 30min from where it is made, I've heard good stuff about it and it's carried in a bunch of the bars around here, ti's just a little expensive and I can't get my boss to order it where I work.

If you're ever in Kentucky this is a neat thing to do. http://www.kybourbontrail.com/

Bulleit, Buffalo trace, Makers, Knob Creek, and Woodford are all really good quality for the money.

Stranahans Colorado Whiskey is a local favorite and very smooth straight. Pricey, but I prefer it over most thers when I have the cash.

That was Capone's private reserve back in the day.

Of course, everybody knows that Irish whiskey is the standard that all other whiskeys aspire to.

Yep. And distilled in Templeton, Iowa. Being a Hawkeye is why I am partial to it I guess.

That may be, but Protestant or Catholic?

I'm old fashion when it comes to my bourbon. I've stuck with Jack Daniels all these years. If something works, don't fuck with it

It's not too bad and fun as hell to ask for. An Irish accent comes out of nowhere when asking for this.

You can tell my favorites by the amount left in the bottle and I have a bottle of pretty much everything distilled in Kentucky.

Blanton's
Four Roses
Willett

If I'm feeling a little froggy though, I'll go for some Revelstoke Spiced Whiskey.

Jameson is the choice, but I'll lower myself to Bushmill if necessary.

I just say 3 Hail Marys after each shot.

Cool, I'll have to check that one out. I'll bet our local Binny's carries it.

Sounds like one of those non-denominational Irish whiskeys.

Being from the South, I prefer bourbon. Here in the Northwest everyone drinks blended whisky. Pendleton in particular is real tasty.

Recently grabbed Jeffersons Reserve very small batch 100 proof cask strength, very good.

Not Bourbon but Ole Smoky Moonshine is in the fridge, it's strangely not nearly as good as real VA shine I've had.

Here's another event people come from all over to attend, it's worth the trip. Bourbon Festival

I have a friend with a range behind his house on the Beech Fork river where we usually camp and shoot during the festival and then enjoy the nightlife at the festival. If you plan on attending you should book way early as all the hotels and B&B's get booked up way in advance.

My favorites always seem to have a cork: Blanton's, Bulleit, Four Roses, and my favorite of favorites: Knob Creek
