30 Dead, Over 100 injured in French "Bastille Day" Attack

Looks like another round of cultural enrichment for the French.

Quote:
At least 30 people are reported to have been killed after a truck ploughed into a crowd in an apparent attack in the French city of Nice.

A further 100 people have been injured, according to French television station BFM TV.

A image appears to show the front of a white lorry riddled with bullet holes. It follows witness reports that gunshots were heard at the scene.

Local newspaper Le Parisien is reporting that shots have been exchanged with police.

President of the Nice Cote d'Azur region, Christian Estrosi, has tweeted: "The driver of a lorry seems to have killed dozens of people. Stay in your homes. More information to follow..."

Le Parisien has graphic images of bodies strewn across the promenade.
Say it with me now:

"We may never know his true intentions. Complex. Okie Doke."

At Least 30 Dead, 100 Injured Nice, France "Attack"

The article links to a SkyNews video that calls this an "attack", and says the driver fired into the large crowd gathered to watch fireworks for Frances Bastile Day celebration.

Well I have to say, though we posted at the same time points for style. A couple witty comments and an embeded link.

We need to do more to keep unstable people from being able to get behind the wheel of assault vehicles. How many more times will this happen before we all come together?

So many comments about guns, and trucks, come to mind, but out of respect, I'll refrain. Rip to the innocent fallen.

You misspelled "Muslim".

A witness, Wassim Bouhlel, told the Associated Press that he saw the truck drive into the crowd, then witnessed the driver emerge with a gun and start shooting.
Now, it hasn't been CONFIRMED that it was of the Moose-variety, I know................but let's use our magical powers of deductive reasoning and pattern recognition to draw a hypothesis as to the "most likely" cause......

Oh, and the body count was just upped to 60 dead apparently.

I feel like this is a rhetorical question.

Hmm, just got back from a week trip to France. I'm glad to have been gone before this happened.

Isn't it time France came up with some common sense truck laws?

Cut out the 'humor' as it is totally inappropriate, given the circumstances

I saw on the news earlier that Omar The Chechen was killed. Blowback?

And what is it going to take till NATO has had enough and gets physical?

News reports are now saying the truck was loaded with guns and grenades. 75 killed, 50 injured. Man, WTF lucky the full plot didn't go through. I could just imagine the carnage at a 4th fireworks show. Just wow...

Indeed, though to me the proper way for France to honor the fallen would be to do more about the ongoing problem that led to their murder than just talk about it until more suffer the same fate.

Drudge is reporting that the terrorist was a 31 year old French resident born in Tunisia.
