ISIS Chemical Attk on US Base

Hopefully we respond with a bit more than a 'Red Line' if this is true.

I'd like to hear from someone in the area if possible.

From what I've read on the internet, it seems that ISIS is probably trying to manufacture H, which is supposedly a "quick and dirty" method to manufacture mustard agent. The problem is that it has 20-30% impurities (or more) and has a real short shelf life. So, they have to make it, make a munition, transport it, then employ it.

This stuff bad for you for sure, but right now it's not a show stopper. However, ISIL is pretty crafty and doesn't give up easily.

I don't think any immediate options are on the table, because the risk can be mitigated and the timetable for defeating ISIS is controlled by the Iraqis, not us.

MOABS sounds like a reasonable response.

If you don't smell ozone, the radiation won't kill you before next week.

I have a personal preference for the W88, but to each his own.
You want to play WMD games, you should get to play WMD games.

They were using some sort of mustard agent earlier this year in mortar/rocket attacks against the Kurds, however I don't think it really produced any casualties from what I recall. It was more of a scare tactic given the history of the Kurds and chemical weapons. But daesh is actively manufacturing chemical weaponry, as captured facilities have indicated.

Chlorine will fuck you up. I was changing chlorine tanks out once at a pool on an Army base. Some of that shit leaked out. It will take your breath an incapacitate you immediately.

True. AQI was incorporating chlorine in their IED's in Fallujah and Ramadi burning the lungs of quite a few Marines.

Following up on this. The brief I got was this was not a mustard gas attack.

My old brigade (2BCT; 101st ABN) is in Iraq right now, and a lot of photos and videos of them I see of them in the news, or on social media have soldiers with pro mask carriers on their hips when in full battle rattle. So I'd say there is more than a passing worry about it all.
