What happened to this early Spring everyone is talking about?

We went up to Newburyport, MA for the weekend expecting more of the mild temps we have had for the last three weeks. Well that is not happening as right now it's 17f outside with gusting winds of 25 or so knots. Tonight's Pub Crawl will be about 7f. Can't wait.
Only good thing about today is that an old Ranger Buddy, Gerard Kelly and his wife showed up and surprised me. He was another old B Company <2> guy. It out to be fun as we are going to try Candle Pin Bowling later.

It's in the high 60s this weekend...beautiful day for me to clean out some accumulated junk in my the outside access storage area, but the bugs are going to be miserable to deal with not too soon from now.

We hit 80+ last month and didn't get nearly the winter precipitation we were supposed to get. There was a statewide burn ban mid-February, and now my county is under another one. That's not going to make for a good summer.

Give this a try:

Tempo SC Ultra.

I sprayed around my house last summer and the result was a sterile environment, void of life.

Cyfluthrin (Tempo) and Permethrin are both in the pyrethroid family.

For 1/4 the price you can get 10% Permethrin and dilute it with water at a 1:19 ratio (0.5%) and you'll have for $1.05 what will cost $15 at Target.

Mix it at a 1:9 ratio (1%), spray it on your clothes and let it dry, and you'll have no ticks or chiggers through about 8-10 washings. They die within a few seconds after contact with treated clothes.

Deadly to cats, but fine for dogs when dry and humans. I bought a pint for $10.05 three years ago and still have a good 12 ounces left. I spend a fair amount of time in the woods and haven't had a tick or chigger since I started using it. It does a fine job repelling mosquitos, also.

It will create a dead zone around a house at a 0.5% concentration, too, and probably at a lesser concentration as well.

Pyrethroids are the cat's tits of insecticides, but you have to keep them away from the cat and her tits.

I always look forward to March because it usually means warm weather is on the way. But we didn't even have a winter this year so when March 1 rolled around it was no big deal.

Well, here in SoCal we've had more rain in the past 3 months than we've had in the 30yrs I've lived here and the A-holes in Sacramento still say we're in a drought.

65 degree right now. As soon as finish typing this, going out to the garage and unzipping/taking off the rear windows of the Jeep. Then taking Mr. Hank out hiking for a couple of hours.

Had a friend, who against my advice, who bought and invested a snow plowing business this last fall. I think he has only gone out one day this winter so far.

Ok it's starting all over again tonight. We are getting snow predictions of anywhere fro 2-4 to 5-8" of snow. Temps of 14-18 degrees. OMG, these Weather Morons have no clue what to expect. Then for Tuesday they are saying another Nor'Easter. Can't wait.

We'll hit 32 Tuesday night though, just in time to piss off the peach crop. Sorry, Jawjuh.

My plants and flowers are very confused. We have had so many 30 and 40 degree swings over the last few weeks.
