Just checking in...

Just a ROTC (Retired On the Couch) senior NCO signing in through the CQ desk. Nukes (and the resulting EOD collateral duties), Aircraft Maintenance and Alert Facility daddy to a bunch of zeros (no disrespect intended). Nothing to exciting nor hard core as the folks running the show here. Thanks for letting me join. Going silent now as I'm a better listener than talker. Oh, and I'm a recently retired VA health care representative (I vetted/verified folks before access to care), so I may be able to shed light on some issues, but as this topic seems to be a moving target, any data I provide will likely be wrong, out dated, full of opinions, or simply irrelevant. But I will take questions through PMs if you are so inclined. I will not tackle VA Choice stuff...a solution looking for a problem.

Pretty sure I registered on here years ago along with a few other places at the suggestion of the JSOTF-P TF-SULU XO at the time, but couldn't find the info so here it is again, just updated.

35P Indonesian, SOT-A time with 1st and very little with 10th, moved to 4ID to fill in and recover from injury, ended up being the acting MICO 1SG/ phr holder while on rear d, now done with PEB and picking up clearing papers this afternoon.
Roommate is a SOT-B SSG at 10th, and for anyone who was around Ft Carson at the time and would remember it, he had an ND and put a 45 round through my leg in our apartment back in 2013.
Anything else, let me know.

Jeff

Good Afternoon SOCNET,
I am currently LE with a municipal police agency within Los Angles County (about 8 years now).

I was a 0000/8404 Corpsman from 2003-2008 mainly with 1/11 at Pendleton. Did a WestPac/Iraq pump with BLT 2/1 as part of the 13th MEU(SOC) in 2005/2006.

I just finished up my EMT-B again and just about to kick off Advanced EMT at JTM Training Group in Las Vegas in order to get back into my first love of being a medical professional. I'm researching Advanced EMT gigs with assorted contracts, both PSS and NPSS.

I'm soaking up info on this site like a dry sponge. Thank you for allowing me to be a member.

Take care and be safe..... tweekers steal everything.

My dad was doing some genealogy work; we had cousins around Suhl. We combined it with a self-guided tour. Brussels to Normandy Beaches to Nice, then Freiburg, Karlsruhe, Stuttgart, Heidelberg, Frankfurt, and a train to Suhl. Crossed at Fulda, then to Suhl and Weimar. Visited Buchenwald as well. Dinner at the Funkturm, too.

Stationed in Wurzburg area as an MP 6 years later. Never tried to for flag orders.

Ah, bet it was a different experience for you. I was 18 during my first trip to the other side of the wall. I aged 40 years mentally that day.

Anyway, my sister went on a high school tour of Germany is why I asked.

Formerly a Marine SIGINT linguist that ended up doing more non-SIGINT linguist stuff like some airborne missions under SOC and later getting assigned to grunts for the Iraq invasion.

Still a linguist though, with a lot of my work in support of the spec ops community.

Originally signed up here after reading about a local former SEAL that died in Afghanistan late last year. Wasn't a KIA situation and I could never find any details about the circumstances.

All,

Joined nine years ago while just beginning active duty. Was bored and filled with delusions of grandeur -- hoped to get some high speed, low drag MOS. Lurked, but once I got comm (signal for you Army folk) and it became clear I wasn't going to be in the infantry (let alone Recon), I let my account go inactive.

Now in the process of transferring to a Reserve Recon unit (would be a comm support Marine). Wanted to get re-acquainted with this world.

Will look around, stay in my lane, and keep my mouth shut.

Very Respectfully,
Butler

Personal Introduction

I was on active duty from 12/1992-12/1996. Many of the bad memories have faded and, luckily, many sea stories are still on my mind.

My favorite ports were Hobart, Guam, Hong Kong.

I didn't particularly enjoy the SH rate. Toward the end of enlistment I considered cross rating over to CTI/Serbo Croatian but the six year reenlistment turned me off. Instead, I completed my enlistment and went to college. After 9/11, I nearly signed papers to join the officer ranks but realized I'd be a crummy officer. The program would've required that I complete the college program I signed with and, well, my eventual change of degree program would've ended my qualification. I ultimately majored in Applied Mathematics and Statistics.

Now I work for the State of California as an Information Security Analyst. This is way more fun.

I used to be a member of classmates.com and connected with some old shipmates. Over time, however, I lost contact.

It's a small world though. Just the other day a colleague of mine informed me that he was on my sister ship and, upon leaving the Gulf from an extended stay, they relieved us for Operation Southern Watch in 1996.

USS Dubuque (LPD-8) 1993-1995
USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70) 1995-1996

It'll be nice to make friends here.
