RIP Brother, you are not forgotten.

He was a former Ranger (4 years) and then a NightStalker for another 5.
He was killed during a night training mission at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, in an AN-6, #8424679 on 20 July, 1994

Was he with chief Laguna on that flight??

I remember Chief Laguna a few months later was doin water therapy at the pool I was SD'd to.

The time frame seems right, and I was just curious.

Rest easy sir, hope his family is doing well.

Carlos and I went to dunker together. Along with the new RCO. The RCO had a pre breif in the hotel. Carlos showed up in a flowered shirt, shorts, and cowboy boots...

Rest easy.

RIP

Carlos vignette:

JRT at Savannah. Carlos, myself and Larry K are downtown having a beer in some Irish pub. Carlos has 10 or so and starts running his game on some fat chick. Larry and I are laughing our asses off because we can't hear what Carlos is saying, but he's got his hands about a foot apart - like he's telling a story about the fish that got away...

Then the music quits, unexpectedly - silence. Except for Carlos. He's bellowing at the top of his lungs like the music is still playing:

"...the truth, all Rangers have to have a dick at least this big."

When he realizes what has happened and sees everyone staring at him, Carlos gets his big shit eating grin going. He looks right back at the fat chick and says "So, I gots a rental car outside. That means I don't care how dirty it gets. How about you come out and put some footprints on the headliner?"

At the same dunker school trip were in the hotel bar and there are some pilots from the 101st. We're getting along OK, of course they start to give us greif over the "You Task Force" guys get all the flight hours, bullets rockets, etc. (back when they were rationed). So we move on from that topic, we all start chating up the local females. The ladies start asking what we all do the 101st guys say apache pilots, Carlos says pilot, I say TI. the ladies ask "whats that?" before I can answer one of the 101 pilots says "He an enlisted guy he just fixes what we break might as well be a grunt" Before I can fashion a witty reply. Carlos (former enlisted Ranger) starts poking this guy in the chest telling him "that's not exactly true, as you aren't good enough to be one of US, douchebag! Ladies you can have these assholes...Pat lets go get drunk enough to puke in the pool."

RIP Carlos.

Another year gone

and I still remember Carlos vividly!

I was recently reminded of when he smuggled a Bird of Prey, Hawk or Falcon - not sure, back from Jordan and the damn thing almost destroyed his hooch.
