Donations Requested

(or, how I learned to start giving instead of freeloading).

I'm being facetious, you can freeload all you want. This is the best collection of information, advice, anecdotes, stories, arguments, debates, name-calling, insults, jokes, and everything else (except porn) on the internet.

And you know it, which is why you come back here day after day.

And all that was requested of you if you are going to post is to post an introduction about yourself. That's it. It's a free site. Hell if you just want to read the site you don't even have to register. There are hundreds, if not thousands, who do just that.

For nothing.

And no one is asking you to pay to join now. But as most of you know there was a wee minded man who came to the attention of this site. He was pretty much ignored. Fast forward a bit and he came to the attention of this site again, this time his exploits, such as they were, came under scrutiny. Many members posted about the individual in question. Many members questioned the individual's credentials.

The individual wasn't used to this. He was used to being paid to talk about all manner of things. So rather than come to the site himself and try to mitigate concerns or set any record straight, or even say "Man, I am so sorry. Things got out of hand with regards to my background. Some I could control, some I was responsible for, some I just let go because it resulted in my career advancing. I was wrong. I apologize. I will correct any erroneous information about my background - please send me any instances you find but just understand it will take some time, but I promise I'll do right."

That's some simple man shit right there. That's character.

Instead he sued. He tracked down members and had them served. Those served had to appear in court to answer the lawsuit that said they willingly damaged this individual's reputation and that his earnings suffered as a result.

It did not matter that the members were correct. Because they were sued, and served, they had to hire attorneys to represent them in court. Because if they didn't the individual would win. He would take their money, maybe their houses, their cars, their companies. He took the route of the small man, with no character.

And these members had to spend thousands of dollars in attorneys fees. Tens of thousands of dollars in fact.

And one day the case went before a judge. And the judge did not side with the individual. He sided with those who were sued, members of SOCNET. And the judge felt the case was so asinine that he ordered the individual to pay the fees of those he had sued.

Except he won't. And he hasn't. And those members, who sought to set the record straight about claims either made by this man or made on behalf of this man, or simply made and this man didn't correct, are still out thousands of dollars. And every day they owe more because the attorneys do not sit back and say "oh, he has to pay court costs, we'll just wait until he pays us back."

And so the members of SOCNET are still paying attorney fees.

And when this all came about many, many members of SOCNET made donations to the cause because they knew those members were correct. And for that I know, I promise you I know, those members are very appreciative.

Unfortunately even though the members were more than generous, the costs were not covered, and they are still rising and people on this site who have provided advice, expertise, humor, instruction, conversation...who have, in short, added great value to SOCNET that many thousands of people benefit from, are still paying. And paying. And paying.

So I am asking that anyone who has made it this far in this post reach into their pocket, or their change jar, or their mattress, and make a donation to help relieve some of the burden these members are under. I doubt there is a single member of SOCNET who can't afford a $10 donation. If there are then I really doubt there is a member of SOCNET who cannot afford a $5 donation.

If there are such members, if you really cannot afford a $10 but you want to help then PM me. I will make a $10 donation on behalf of 10 members who cannot afford it at this point. I won't judge. I don't need to hear a story. Just PM me and say I really can't afford to spare anything. Please donate on my behalf. I will do this for 10 members. I am not a rich man. I don't have vast savings. I don't have retirement accounts or things that anyone would want to buy. But I can tighten my belt, make a lunch instead of buying one, and stay home a night or two a month instead of going out for drinks, and I can scrounge together the money to cover 10 of you at $10 each. I'm not so good at the maths but over a year that's much less than $1 a day. If I have to I'll stop buying coffee.

Maybe others will step up and do the same. Let's grow this thing. Let's help those people out who have been sued - sued, again, for doing nothing more than commenting on a website about the qualifications of someone who believes that no one should dare question him.

And if you can afford $10, or $20, or whatever on your own then please donate. Try not to forget. Every little bit helps.

And Giduck? Go fuck yourself.

Please send paypal donations to rgrjoe175@aol.com -- all donations go to help relieve the members who have incurred attorney fees defending against this ridiculous lawsuit.

P.S. If you have already finished fucking yourself John Giduck, kindly start over.

Well said.

Amen. There are many people on this site who have stood up for what was right. And was sued for their trouble. Lets stand behind them! And remember it may one day be your turn and I promise you you would want the man and women of SOCNET to stand behind you!

I have sent in the past and money is tight now, but consider a donation inbound!

And Giduck....I second the GO FUCK YOURSELF!

Well said KidA! I would also be willing to make a $10 donation (up to 10 folks) on behalf of anyone who would like to assist, but cannot at this time. PM me, if interested.

I've never made a payment using paypal. Which do I check:

What are you sending money for?
1 - I'm paying for goods or services
2 - I'm sending money to family or friends

Thanks, Chuck

I dunno. Can I afford it? Lessee. According to my last tax year, I didn't even have to file because of my low income. Yet here I am. If I was that broke, I wouldn't be here because I wouldn't have an Internet connection. What I've found over these last few Months of more participation is there are a bunch of intelligent folks here and lots of information that I appreciate. Thanks! PPal done. To JG: Have a Nice Day!

I've been here about 8 years now. The advice alone is worth it, not to mention I recently acquired real-life work due to this site (Thanks Hoepoe). Logged in to PayPal for the first time in 3 years to find I had an existing balance, which just got donated. Hope it helps.

So I just went to send some dough when PayPal gave me a message which basically said,
" As of June 27th the Federal Govt. is requiring Paypal to get your name, address, birthdate, social security # and tax id #. I'm not going to use PayPal anymore as this is utter bullshit. What's the next option guys.

I'll match KidA's offer and triple the cap. This site unexpectedly connected me with a couple of outstanding individuals. I owe SOCNET.

Interesting, I didn't get that message (and I definitely didn't fork over that information when I registered). Try emailing paypal.

Could you have hit a phishing site?

You guys are awesome. Not counting those who have already donated, there are $500 worth of donations right here already to be made on behalf of members.

(If no one takes me up on it I'll donate the full amount in 30 days).

KidA - I see your $10/per person pledge and raise it to $15. If you are so down on your luck and can't dig any deeper, PM me. I will consolidate the pledges and do a lump sum donation at $15/person.

Donation en route.

Is there any way to get a court order garnishing John Giduck's wages to get the court and attorneys fees the judge awarded the defendants? Since lawyers are getting billable hours in this anyway, why not find out if those due money can get 25% (I think that's as high as a wage garnishment can go) from his speaking fees and book sales. Not sure if Colorado law would allow for this or not.

Is your PayPal account a business or a personal one? If it's a business one, they probably have to report all the income you receive through it and issue a 1099 since the .gov tightened up the laws on that through Obamacare.

Also, Mass is right, you may have stumbled onto a scam site. Double-check the website address. If it starts with http instead of https, you're on a false site.
