The unit won't pay to reclass you if you're qualified for an existing vacancy. If there's an available 68W slot (which there likely will be), that'll be your job.

Once again how do you know this as fact? Are you at USACAPOC, or perhaps USAJFKSWCS?

I know it because I was once in the same spot. I wanted to reclass but since I already had an MOS the unit needed they weren't going to piss away money to send me to another school if they didn't have to.

Fair enough. There have been others who experienced exactly the opposite. Myself included.

I already held an MOS that my unit needed, but what they really needed was 37F's on a battle roster. I was reclassed so fast my head was still spinning while I was shipping out.

If his unit needs 38's they will make him one just as fast as they can.

Wrong answer. USACAPOC is so short that they will reclass anyone and their mother so that they can fill a 38B or 37F spot on a battle roster. Everyone of our 42s, 25s, and a few 92s had 38B as a secondary and were slotted in 38B slots to go downrange not using their primary MOS in country. This has been going on for atleast the four years that I have witnessed it.
