Kill the Messenger

The story of Gary Webb, small time newspaper reporter that broke the Contra Cocaine for Weapons deals in the press.

Some decent acting by Jeremy Renner, a good back story how it effected his family. It really focus on the cheesedickery of Washington D.C. tactics.

The story kinda drug out, but I guess since its true, there is not much choice. Not a bad movie, but I wish I had rented it instead of buying it on Google Play.

I just watched this the other day. I thought it was a decent movie, without a lot of added bullshit from Hollywood.

I think it was a good portrayal of the common practice of character assassination when anyone opposes something illegal the government is doing.

Just look at Ed Snowden. That guy's been vilified to the nth degree and the press has been complicit in it. No matter what my personal thoughts on Greenwald and Poitras are - they showed guts when everyone else was folding left and right.

As for Webb, don't get me started on how a man shoots himself in the head twice while committing "suicide".

Good movie.

Maybe he was a role model for Vince Foster and Kathleen Willey's husband.

I watched this today - Jeremy Renner was the main reason I watched. It was well acted, had some other actors I like including Oliver Platt, Ray Liotta, Andy Garcia and Barry Pepper. The subject matter was enough to piss you off. I won't watch this again for awhile but it was pretty decent.

Interesting movie as I had not heard of him before. I enjoy Renner's movies. Sad what happened to all involved.
