Here's a link to a pretty cool story about a young guy named John Norris who was living in Taiwan with his parents during the filming of Sand Pebbles, and wound up working as a stand in for McQueen for about 3 months.

https://www.mcqueenonline.com/johnnorris.htm

He would go on to join the Army and serve in Viet Nam and also kept in touch with McQueen until he died. He talked about going riding with McQueen, him on his BSA and McQueen on his racer. He seems to think that it was a Suzuki, but couldn't be sure.

I've read it, it's a good book.

I especially liked the section about the Winton Flyer that Von Dutch fabricated from scratch for the movie The Reivers. As I recall, he was on some sort of deadline and kept putting off the project until he had about a weekend left to present it, and he just pulled together a bunch of what amounted to scrap metal and produced what everybody said is a work of art.

Von Dutch was a genius when it came to stuff like that. I heard he was also a pretty good gunsmith among other things.

The best part about that movie is you can pretty much tune in at any point during its 3+ hours running time and really not have missed anything.

Dick Shawn was great in that movie, almost as good as he was in The Producers playing Hitler.

Probably been mentioned, but 'Southern Comfort' with Powers Boothe.
Another good Powers Boothe movie is 'Extreme Prejudice'
