Ballard of Buster Scruggs

Original movie on Netflix. It was highly entertaining western. It's 6 short stories totally unrelated to each other. Didn't really like the 1st stroy too much, but definitely liked the other ones!

Saw this last night. It’s a Coen Bro. movie so it’s dark humor. Very good acting in this one.

This is a must see.

I started watching this movie on a whim Friday night.
I took a vacation day and thought this would be a good movie to close out the night.

I guess I was not in the right frame of mind, or the first story didn't really grab me and I turned it off.

I am off Tuesday, and will give it a second try and see if the other five stories grab me.

Is the first story the one with the singing cowboy Buster Scruggs and Dan the horse?

If so, I loved that story.

I thought the story of the young widow on the wagon train and the end of her efforts in the film were bittersweet.

The Coen brothers are definitely an acquired taste, they can't really be pinned down to any specific type of movie.

I always look forward to one of their movies, but I don't always like them. They're hit and miss, but they score enough good ones to keep coming back for more.

I'm looking forward to Scruggs, but won't go in expecting it to be up their with the best flicks. I'd like to see them revisit The Big Lebowski at some point, but I doubt that will ever happen. They're not into making sequels or anything that connects to their previous work.

I had a hard time making it through the first story but really liked the next 4 and thought the last one was ok.

Wish I was more well-read. Missed a lot of meaning. There is obvious symbolism and reference to other works but I don’t quite know what is what. Will give it another watch.

That said, it is a well-made/well-written piece.
