The Mule

Wife and I just saw it and it was meh. Pretty dry, no action, and other than being "based" on a true story it really didn't get me excited. At no point during the movie was I lost or trying to figure it out. It was basically an old guy driving back/forth between Texas and Illinois with duffelbag's of coke in the bed of his trunk, mixed in with a story of his ex-wife/kid/grandkid. Wait until Netflix if you must. The funniest part of the movie for me was when my wife said, "Duterte will kill them all."

That's too bad. Was looking forward to this. I usually dig Clint's movies.

The true story is pretty interesting:

I think I'm still going to check this one out.

I'm not saying, don't see it. Just from my perspective it was just okay. Not bad, not great, just okay. I think the reason I only give it an "okay", is also because I expected more from Clint. Catch it on the matinee or use your .mil ID for a discount.

More of what, I wonder?

If he told a story, that's about all you're gonna get now days.

Remember the Chris Kyle Story? Lots of folks, even right here on this forum were unimpressed.

He's a story guy. He's always been a story guy. He used to fuck people-up while playing a part in the story. Now he doesn't for the most part.

So curious what was missing for you from Clint?

Because if he's not telling a GOOD story then I'll simply pass.

I thought it was good. Listen to the story not just look for action because you won't find it.

Best part was when he took responsibility for his actions. Real old school.

Anything Eastwood is programmed to record.

I'll be watching this as soon as my Son gets it on his TV. He's got one of those TV deals that gets BO movies shortly after coming out.

Sad thing about that movie...is how old Clint is getting. It’s a good 2 hour time killer and the “story” can resonate with a lot of members here, myself included.

Yes he is. SB has now given me a subconscious inferior complex about my looks.

I ordered some Plexaderm.

The wife and I saw it last night.
As someone said, he looks OLD. The wife even said, Holy Shit he's gotten old.
The movie itself, was an OK story. A little drama, a couple good one-liners, and a couple scenes of scantily clad chicks. The moral of the story of family, is timeless. There were a lot of bigger names in it, which I didn't realize until we saw it.
All in all, good not great movie, and a fine one to watch at home with a beer and popcorn.

Saw it last night at half-price TUE, and I wished I'd spent the $$ on Bumblebee. I needed about half the coke in that movie to stay awake. I agree that it's a good story, and Clint tells it well as usual. For big screen prices, tho - don't waste your time or ticket. It will be every ounce as good in your living room.

Saw this on a flight recently. Not a good story. Hardly any non-forced character development. Disappointed by this one even with the low bar set here.

Since when do kingpins meet mules? Clint’s kingpin and original handler seemed like poorly written plot devices. I’ll assume that something important ended up on the cutting room floor.

Best part of the movie was when the handlers we’re singing along to classic show tunes. Only surprise of the movie.

I didn’t laugh. I didn’t cry. I’d rather watch “Cats”

I rented it on iTunes a few days ago. Let's be honest - it sucked.

Clint Eastwood struck out hard on this one. The end was comically bad.

Go watch Dirty Harry, Magnum Force, Gran Torino to rectify.
