Thumbs up Escape at Dannemora

This is a Showtime mini-series directed and produced by Ben Stiller (yup- Zoolander). It tells the story of the events leading up to and including the escape from Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora NY, in June of 2015 by Richard Matt and David Sweat- both convicted murderers. Benicio Del Toro (plays Matt), Paul Dano (Sweat), and a nearly unrecognizable Patricia Arquette are the main cast members and all do a really good job with this. I binged four episodes over the holidays, and it's definitely worth catching in my opinion. The production crew was allowed access to Clinton, and filmed some scenes from inside as well as the location where the two escaped.

Stiller's movies hit or miss, but I enjoy Del Toro's work and Paul Dano is a really good actor as well so I gave it a shot. I was pleasantly surprised with the overall production of this series, and Stiller did a fine job capturing the details as well as the 'feel' of the prison, town, and interplay of minor characters.

I don't get Showtime, but I'll find a way to watch it. It looks really good.
