Question about WPPS training targets at BW

I have been set up for the May 29 WPPS course with BW. My questions involves the target used for the pistol qual course. The info given to me say's they use the "Izzy" target. I would like to know the dimensions for it so that I may practice with one that is similiar to the "Izzy".

Thanks in advance for any help.

Here is a link. Go about a third of the way down and look for the guy with the moustache and AK47.

The Izzy target is similar to the trans-star I & II. Its just a proportional graphic of a Haji with an AK across his chest.

Nothing crazy...if you can make the MC pistol qual...you should be g2g.

Just make sure you are good with your stoppage and transition drills.

OOC, out

I find that kinda funny..... I always preferred a slow drawn out incapcitation

"CARDBOARD target designed for the Kentucky National Guard. Intended for close quarters marksmanship training where rapid incapacitation is an absolute requirement."

Has political correctness taken Izzy off of Marine Corps?

I don't recall an Izzy, but we always trained with the "Crazy Ivan", the Soviet style pop-up target complete with star on the helmet and AK-47.

There is a "White Guy" Izzy that was developed because some Haji country took offense to the DS and MSG folks training to shoot a supposed Haji.

Whats even funnier is that the target is taken from a photo of a now long retired DS Agent.

Are you in a PSU? I was in PSU311 briefly before I started playing active duty. As a matter of fact in about 3 months I will be completely separated from the IRR.

I used to laugh when some of us prior service guys would make a head shot and the SAI's would get pissed. It was like "You can't shoot them in the head, it's not fair."

Luke,

If you got a haircut, shaved a little, dyed your hair and got a tan you might be able to pass for him. :D

Izzy was a DSS agent and firearms instructor of Lebanese descent. Another firearms instructor had some skills with pencil and paper, and drew that from a picture they took of him. This was somewhere in the neighborhood of 1983, when they were figuring out who the enemy was. So the story goes, as related by some retired SES types from DSS that I used to work around. They worked back in the day with Izzy.

I can almost hear the conversation:

DS Agent: "Hey Izzy, come here".
Izzy: What's up, man?
DS Agent: Hold this AK.
Izzy: Why?
DS Agent: Look over here. Say "Terrorist!"
*click/flash*
Izzy: What the f' are you doing, man?
DS Agent: We just wanted a picture of what the enemy looks like....bwahahhaa
Izzy: That's fucked up, man!
DS Agent: Hey, wait a minute: let me see that! I'm going to sketch this out. This would make a hell of a new qualification target!

The conversation is my humorous take on it. The actual story is allegedly correct.

Believeraz's story matches what I was told by the folks in the FTU.

I will try and snap a pic of one of the White Guy Izzy's, which are much different than the White guy and gal in the above linkl

CA,

You must be up there near old Moffett field? I hear what you are saying. Having been in the Army and then later going to the CG was a shocker. Especially when it came to weapons stuff. You were also on a "Milk Shake Stirring Team", how was that?

HA! Yeah. Being a member of T.U.N.A. was a "hoot". We called ourselves WALRUS, "like SEALs, but not really". (No slam meant to SW members, and NOT claim to being similar in anyway...except being on and near water).

I don't miss the MSST, they just didn't do it "right". Things have changed, however I still think they are not as they should be.

We are stationed at the AIRSTA, SF. I was also prior Army, 95B (old).
