Thumbs up The Hot Zone

National Geographic TV series.

First episode - hooked. 6 episodes this season, available on Apple I Tunes now.

This TV series is scaring the crap out of me!

Well done series. Stars amongst other the FBI scent from the Americans, and the Foreman kid from That 70s Show.

Show takes place in late 1980s, with several US Military Doctors/Scientist finding the Ebola Virus in DC area.

You should read the book about it. Then read "The demon in the freezer" and you're all set.

Just finished the series. Well done. One of the better series have seen.

At end of series show real Colonel Jaxxs. Pretty good casting, actors look almost identical.

If the series was true to events, hats off to the soldiers - that was combat duty.

I know the collective COL Jaxxs from KU, I was supposed to do an agriculture security program with them and when they said they had to have 55% of the money, that shot the whole program to shit.

I read the book when it came out and my wife was premed in college and leans toward virology or whatever the specialty is called.
She geeks out on this stuff and included the book in my son's homeschool reading last year... So now we are streaming the series .

It's pretty good so far.

Your son is having education done right! That book was on my required reading list when I taught Adv. and Honors level 7th grade science. It made for some great discussions about ethics and science. Do we tell the public of the danger and risk spreading the disease faster, or do we keep quiet and lie to them for their own good. Shades of Chernobyl...

Now, if I may suggest, follow up with The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. Another great true story, reeking with ethical failings. Also was on my list.

Someone gave me a copy of the book about a week after I climbed Mt. Elgon and explored Kitum Cave. I figured at that point, I was halfway through the incubation period...the next week or two were probably the most anxiety-filled period of my life. Luckily, I didn't contract hemorrhagic fever, and as nearly as I can tell, it's pretty hard to catch...but I'll be damned if that book didn't make me rethink my life choices.

For my BA in Homeland Security, I had to take a few course on WMD and the subset of course was biologicals and such crap. I was convinced at that time the end of mankind will come about due to some careless lab geek. I jest of course but there was some good book I had to read for the course .

I’m looking into this series this weekend

Watched 4 episodes yesterday. It’s good. Scary as hell but worth the $10 I paid for season 1
