Delinking a web address

I have seen in the past the admins do not want sites linked here. How do you unlink it? In the go advanced portion it has the link with an x through it that takes away the url code but it still comes up as a clickable link?

You mean like this directive: http://socnet.com/showthread.php?t=126995

Seems clear cut if that's your question.

No, I mean how do you make a web address unclickable in a post. Not a Gannet media one.

So let me give this a try. . .2aholster.com/product/inline-mag-carrier/

If the above is properly unlinked, all I did was remove the http:// prefix. during edit after viewing it in the preview window. . .Make sense??

I tried that too, but for some reason when I previewed the post, the url wrapper was still there even after deleting it etc. Finally just deleted one of the u's in the wrapper.

Don't click on the button for Insert Link if you don't want it to be a live link do as others have suggested. You could do www(.)socnet(.com) or socnet.com or any combination of which. When you click on Insert Link then it wraps what you put inside as a link.
