"Stranger Things" on Netflix

So the story is basically a Twilight Zone-ish miniseries revolving around a young kid who disappears, a secret govt lab, and the young kids' group of friends and mother who are trying to find him. Got Wynona Ryder in it.

Set in the 80s, so I like it. Has a little bit of a goonies/monster squad sort of feel to it. Highly recommend.

I enjoyed the show.

One thing really weirded me out.
A few days before watching this show, I rewatched the HBO miniseries Generation Kill... and the little girl with the shaved head in Stranger Things looked so much like Lieutenant Fick in Generation Kill that I found it distracting.

This series is a great copy of the 80s horror movies, from the titles right down to the theme music (a cross between John Carpenter and Tangerine Dream, if you remember that far back). In fact, judging from the Posters in the kids rooms, this is a nod to John Carpenters movies.

The music is excellent. Sets the perfect mood for every scene.

Great show. Excellent plot, may be scary for some but not too scary. Looks like it might have a second season.

The show was awesome! The first time I tried to watch it, I had went a little too heavy on the sauce and didnt like it. I am glad I gave it another shot. The Chief and the chubby kid are my favorites.

Toothless kid is great.
Crazy to me that not long ago folks were worried about netflix solvency, now they are producing many excellent shows that blow established networks away.

Great show.

It was fun seeing all the nods to 80's culture, from the posters on the wall to the boom boxes to that Tupperware pitcher sitting on the kitchen table in one of the last scenes.

Binged the whole series last week over two sleepless nights. Made me feel old seeing the star (Mathew Modine) of Vision Quest playing a middle aged mad scientist. Wynona Ryder was great and she is still hot.

Yep, one might say she "stole" the show.

Just finished watching the second episode with my boys, and now we're hooked. They did a great job recreating the early 80's feel. It's shot in a very John Landis/Spielberg-esque Twighy Zone style.

Watched the first episode last night and we'll definitely tune in for more. Growing up in that era, I loved the 80s vibe of the show.
